Exclamation top speed

i know that Z's govern at 155, which would technically mean they can go faster, right. Just what is the actuall top speed, or is it 155? since i was thinking about getting rid of the gov.

I can't see a stock Z33 being able to go much faster than 155 even with the governor removed (maybe 157)?

NA you'd be hard pressed to hit over 165mph on a flat road (not downhill!). If we could pull to limiter in 6th gear its about 186mph @ stock redline. If I removed my limiter with my raised redline, and if the car would stay planted at speeds above 180mph I have no doubt it could go 190mph even more. I also have supercar and above hp levels though, I just dont know if a car designed for 160mph should be taken to 180mph+, thats why I havent removed my speed limiter. Check the vid out in my signature to see a run to nearly limiter.

An additional 10mph seems perfectly valid to me. I've kept mine pegged on the 159 limiter even going up a hill... so if that's not having more power left... I don't know what is. Also, when going downhill you can easily hear/feel the ECU lifting off the throttle.

What does "the fastest you've ridden" have to do with "how much MPH is left after the limiter"? Some people haven't even seen 90mph.

ignore the people that have only gone 90, there are people that talk about there gains mph wise with ecu reflashes and such. and a few people claim speeds in the 170's. im not validating thier claims but its seems to me those people would be the ones to ask... usually once a year car and driver mag puts out a sheet of all cars in production with thier performance numbers top speed, 1/4 mile, handling g's. if memory serves me correctly it will list governed and non-governed top speeds. i will see if i can find it. if you want to go over 155 get an hks speed cut defenser and let it rip, prob not the best idea but you can find out the accurate number and let us all know.

My lightly modified 1984 928 would do about 165mph even though the stock speed was supposed to be 145mph due to horsepower. I love how porsche underrates thier cars.

The Z i have had the speedomoter at 161mph so im not exactly sure how much it is off.

HKS speed cut lol-that is old school $hit. Only way to remove it is with a Techno/AAM reflash of the ECU. Ive never seen a published "speculated" top speed, or mags really run a limited car to a non limited top speed.

i have the mag at my new house somewhere ill try to find it and scan it, hks makes a new speed cut defenser designed to work with newer cars.... horsepowerfreaks.com sells them, they are around $350.00 nothing old school about a brand new part made just for our car... AAM isn't always the only answer.

R U for real? My speedo rises pretty quickly to the 150 range and will keep pulling past 160 if it could... If anyone is in my area and wants to take a ride for proof.. Lets go.. I'm available on Saturday nights.. Damn it, Now I gotta get a re-flash so I can find out how far it goes to redline...

First, we all need to make sure we are talking about the same year and model car. Reading all these threads I have seen a huge difference in rev-limiters,governd top speeds, ect. Soooooo many different cars, models, mods, aerodynamics . Too many little things can make a difference. I have even seen people list different numbers here on the exact same cars????

Speedos are inaccurate at those speeds (probably close to 10MPH off).

I'm not going to argue with you, but it's more than that.
