I can appreciate that as well. As I mentioned in my post above I used to use Fram filters for over 30 years. Then I saw the Data and just decided to make a switch to what I felt was better. Not to mention the warranty issue from my Cousin who is a NISSAN Master Mechanic. He has been working as a mechanic for over 30 years as well. For the last 15 years he had been a NISSAN Mechanic.

As you can see we have been around the block as well.

Just thought some people might want to see the research and experience from another view.

So in those 30 years that you used Fram filters, have you (or anyone you know) had any engine problems that were attributed specifically to using Fram filters?

We have seen 4-5 Motors distroyed by the FRAM oil filter material coming appart and pluging the oil passage and causing oil starvation and motor distruction. ;-(

Not going to wait to see if it happen to my VQ Motor like the others we
(my cousin the NISSAN Mechanic and I) have seen. He showed me one motor that this happened to, claims he has seen 4-5 other motors with the same FRAM issue and that the dealerships sees 1-2 motors per year that have to be replace due to the FRAM / Cardboard end cap construction.

Now, is that as clear as mud or what?

I'm not saying, I personnally blew a motor with a FRAM. But, like you I changed my motor oil AND filter every 5K (SYN). It might have gone out on the older motors as far as 10K when they we pushing 7500 mile oil changes in the day. However, tolerances what they are today. I think it is prudent to change you syn oil more than the old days.

That my story and I'm sticking to it.
