The Maxima and Altima are both FWD. There's nothing sporty about a FWD car.

I think the car that's going to be discontinued soon will be the G35 coupe. The Z has heritage and history. They'll kill it, bring it back, kill it...etc. The G coupe sits out there like the way the Acura CL did. With the arrival of the Alitma coupe, that car fills the $30+ 2 door niche. And being that the G35 coupe was the Skyline, it's not going to make sense to keep it around when the GT-R comes out.
I dont think the G35 coupe will be going away anytime soon. The g coupe/sedan is Nissan's 3 series lol. Besides with the newly redesigned g sedan, a new g coupe will come and then the new Z. To the OP the new altima coupe is marketed for those looking at a accord coupe or a toyota solara. The Z is making too much money for them to just stop production. And as others have said the GTR is for the select few. The new g coupe will also sell well just like the Z.

Lets See,

Honda had the Civic SI coupe, Accord Coupe, Prelude and S2000 (Although a 'vertt) all in production at the same time. They WILL have 3 sporty coups in production again soon.

Ford had the Probe, Mustang and Thunderbird V8 at the same time not so long ago.

Chevy offers the Cobalt SS, Monte Carlo SS, SSR and Corvette (in two flavors)

VW offers the GTI, Beatle and Eos. (All consider sporty cars loosley)

Porche has the Boxter, Cayman, Carrera and Carerra GT.

I could probably find several other makers with 2-3+ Sporty or Sports car coups for sale.

Sporty "Classed" cars, no different than the Altima Coupe.
