Default Dealership 1, WYZIWYG 0

I just took the car in for it's 15k service and was given a charge of $225. I figured since there's so much to do it wasn't that big of a deal. But before handing me my keys, the "technician" tells me that they're running a special this month by refilling their customers tires with Nitrogen. Seeing as how I slept through high school chemistry, I asked what's the difference between that and good 'ol fashioned air for .25?? He then gave me a 15 minute lecture on why I needed Nitrogen in tires for a vehicle like this and what a mistake I'd be making without it. He also told me the wiper blades needed changing and since they only make a special blade for the Z I'd be better off getting that done as well. Long story short I wound up paying $46 bucks for my special Nitrogen tires and $36 for my special Z wiper blades Please someone tell me I didn't just get bent over and ***-raped on this one

Well, this is my first sports car and my very first brand new car. And I admit to being both paranoid and maybe a bit naive about it. When it's time for an oil change or any other maintenance on my beater, I'll take it wherever. But when I purchased the Z I recall them saying something about I'd have to bring it back to the dealer for any and all service because they'd be able to tell if I took it to another mechanic. I know this probably sounds stupid to any of the weekend mechanics on this forum but I'm still learning and willing to admit when I screw up. Hopefully no one else will get hit for the Nitrogen Special like me...

Dude they can't tell you where to take your own car. IT'S YOUR CAR!!!

Sorry you got bent over like that. But honestly i don't see much you can do now that's it's done. Just call and teli them you will never return b/c of what happened and who knows they might bend you over again for free, or atleast a free oil change

Good Luck

Cheers

Kevin

Nitrogen doesn't belong in a daily driver, heck some will argue anything short of a military jet/space shuttle doesn't need it.

A set of wiper blades run $6-$14 at AutoZone or PepBoys and will take you ten minutes to change out the first time and two minutes once you know how they're done.

I changed the blades on my Z the first day I brought it home, 4 dollars for a pair at O'rielly.

So yes, you got raped in the pooper without any lub.

He didn't get raped . . . he was an able and willing (innocent) participant.

There's an old George Strait song, "I'll sell you an oceanfront property in Arizona . . . "

I'm going to disagree with other members about having Nitrogen in your daily drivers tires. I am a big supporter of it. You will not see big variances in your tire pressure in hot/cold driving conditions.

As for the dealer doing it, and not asking you... not cool.

And you got raped by the wiper blades.

welcome to the dealer game.

the dealer will attempt to bend u over and take you from behind as many times as they possibly can. its just there way of making money.

at least you got out semi unscathed.

i had a burnt clutch disc. the dealer told me i needed to replace the entire clutch assembly including pressure plate, bearing and all that jaz. damn near cost me 2000 alone for the clutch kit. told me i needed to replace my flywheel because it was "toasted". They claimed the part cost 1200 dollars, and so of course i found it online and the nismo one for 500. called the dealers bluff and they did it properly for the 500 instead of trying to rape me out the ***.

an oxygen sensor costs 300 dollars to replace at the dealer. the part costs 80- 100 at autozone, and take about 20 mins to replace.

They charged me 300 dollars (which he later said he only charged 150 cuz he was "giving me a deal") to change out tailights. the labor alone he claimed was 300.

are you starting to get the picture. the only time i will EVER go to the dealer again is when i buy a new Z. find a good mechanic and never look back.

When I was car shopping I went there with my 758 credit score, and asked for a competetive interest rate at the time, and a price that was hardly unreasonable for the car. The sales manager kept coming back with a price several thousand higher and a 7-something percent interest rate!! I said "Look, I have Tier I credit and I am not going to pay over X percent, and the price I offered was more than reasonable." I asked him what the invoice on the car was, then he LIED to me about it. (I knew the invoice on the car with the exact options discussed). I asked if he could produce an invoice sheet showing how he arrived at his figure, thinking maybe I was mistaken. He said (verbatim) "I'm sorry, we can't help you. Goodbye."

I rolled up the road to Tischer Nissan off 198 in Laurel, and they gave me EXACTLY what I asked for without batting an eye, and were just all-around wonderful to me. I felt like a rock star there. My Herb Gordon experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I would never go there for anything.
