Default 6th to 5th gear grind...warranty question

hey guys i think im getting the 6th to 5th gear grind while shifting down around 50mph or so.

I know this is more of a common issue but just a quick question....im lowered with tanabe springs and 19 inch rims and have a popcharger....the dealership wont be biatchy about the warranty with these mods correct? sorry for a dumb question but i have just had the 350z for about 2 or 3 months now and havent taken it in to any NISSAN dealership for antyhing yet.

thanks guys!

They shouldn't be able to stand on that as being the cause.

First things first... and you're going to get a MILLION of these...

SEARCH. There are quite a few posts on this subject, as it is a rather common issue, many people get their tranies replaced in this car (usually 3rd gear grind, but not always, mine was just like yours).

I'll be kind and actually answer the question this time:

Some dealers and be uber picky, so check the dealer out before you take your car in... the dealer I got the tranny replaced for my car (for the same reason as yours) they didnt care that I had a pop charger and a borla TD exahust... some dealers will try to pin the break on your after market mods - which, with what you have listed, is COMPLETE BS. Someone on here started a list of dealers that are good and bad, see if you can find a good one in you area... some dealers have managers that are really nice and wont totally screw you/blame every problem on "abuse", while others have ones that are reasonable and very level headed, and are actually helpfull. Need to find the right one.

The tranny is part of the 5yr/60,000 mile warrenty and if you're still within that time/distance then they should replace it under warrenty at NO cost to you if they can reproduce the problem. You should also get a free clutch replacement with the first tranny replacement (for some reason nissan tells the dealers to do this, not sure why). They shouldnt try to charge you to remove or put back on any after market parts either, my local john elway nissan dealer didnt, and I had them on, they where very helpfull. Also, check what tranny you get if/when they do the replacement as hopefully you'll get the 009 tranny as it's the latest revision and everyone seems to be doing better with it than the 007's and 008's.

non of your mods can cause gear grinding and the dealers shouldn't even have the right to blame it on those. But there are some dealers that are complete asswipes and try to rip you off by saying it voids warranty and what not. When that happens... throw down the lemon law!

I suspect that you will not be able to get the service manager to duplicate the problem.
