Default Drove a 07 Z today

I work at classic Nissan in orlando and PDI'ed one of our very first 07's in san marino blue. Base model, six speed, the san marino is a very nice dark midnight blue.

Upon leaving the dealerhsip and laying into the throttle a bit once I was into second gear the difference from the revup and non revup is distinctly clear. The dual intake system just howls and sounds nice as hell. It totally changes how the whole car sounds in my opinion, much more reminescent of the bark that he old 300Z's.You have got to forgive nissan for the bulge in the hood, even if you dont like it, the power and torque more then makes up for it.

Just thought Id post a little review since I got to drive one today.

Ya Baby, that's cool. I can live with the hood. I like the changes with the new HR engine.

I am waiting for my 07GT. Feb. 2....................lost the 06GT to a head with a drunk.

I will be happy.

Thanks for the post.

OP, its listed as only having 6hp more then the rev-up... Is it that noticeable?
Its also much heavier then the '05-'06?

My apologies if my info is incorrect, I only briefly looked at the website.

Cheers,

R

has any thought that maybe like the 335I and the lexus 350, that the power out put might be under rated? those cars are dynoing alot higher than expected.

Question

Were you so overwhelmed that you drove the 2007 home, and left your 350Z behind?

Sounds pretty nice. Pics would be awsome as I'm curious about the hump in the hood.

Cool man. At time I wish I worked for a car dealer.

From what I have seen, the hood doesn't really need that "bump" in it, does it? I am assuming that if people disliked that so much that they could just throw on an 03-06 hood without the bulge in it. I've never seen the car in person so its hard to tell, but it does not look functional.

Are we talking hood hump like the hoods on the DSM's that go over the timing belt covers?? Or is the hump not so drastic?

Even if the hood bulge isn't functional (which I think it may be) it could just be Nissan making giving us tuners more room under the hood for mods and what not.

That is true, but what is going to require that much more space? Like I said I have not seen the car, but the factory strut bar + spacer in the 03-06 will not fit using the stock strut bar in most applications. There are strut bars that will make it fit though. Now assuming the engine does not require that bump in the hood (why would it anyway, Nissan wouldn't RAISE the height engine, that would make the center of G higher = less handling capabilities), why did they choose to do that? There are so many cars with hoodscoop/bulge etc. these days and hardly any of them are functional.

The only thing that I think would be useful for that bulge is a supercharger or a top mounted intercooler (which is stupid anyway). In that case, the car doesn't come with either of those options, so having that buldge is pointless to 90% of the market.

I agree with some of the points you made. I believe that maybe the room is reserved for those who would want to supercharge their Zs (idk why). I heard something about there being twin intakes, but I dont know how much room that would require.

Theory #2 The room is reserved for those who may want to drop in the 380Z's engine....
