Default NEW 350z owner from WRX

So I got rid of my 336 whp 2006 wrx and got a 350z 2003 and have a bunch of money left over to turbo or supercharge it lol. The 350 is sloooowwww compared to the wrx but it does feel more refined and I think it has more top potential. Either way I'll be researching tons of info, and this forum seems to be the best I've seen so far. I'll post a video of the wrx and the new Z so you guys can see once I pick up the car tommorow.

Welcome to the family! Why did you decide to get rid of the WRX?

umm I realized that my little 2.5 4 banger was not going to be able to produce over 500whp and I can with the Z. Also wrx's are nice but they aren't really so refined. It is uncomfortable to ride in the rear seat is pointless I already have a 4x4 and I live in NC so winters aren't bad. The positive sides of the 350 outweighed the positives of my wrx. I had an upgraded large turbo, and basically everything imaginable on the wrx and it was maxed out. My dyno numbers were on a mustang dyno, if it was on a dynopack or a more common dyno it would have been above 400 whp. Either way the 350 is just a better made car.

What did you have done to your rex? Thats some good numbers... My GF has an 04 STi with an Invidia TB, T~XS shorty intake, exedy stg 1, and was tuned with the Cobb AcessPORT 2.0.. It put down 303 AWHP, and 321 ft. lbs of torque on a conservative tune.. The highest he could get it with those mods was 310 WHP and 322 TQ... Anyway, welcome to the community brother.. Yeah, my Z would get raped by her STi, but I still love the way I feel connected to the Z.. Plus, after adding the sways, and springs I feel way more confident taking corners at ridiculous speed ( I used to own an evo type of ridiculous speed ) so it's definitely fun... It doesn't have much down low, but once you start through the higher gears, you'll see that it pulls really nicely.. Enjoy and have fun modding...

you wont regret it bro, the WRX and STI were options for me too. They look terrible, and like you said, forget the 4 bangers. The Z gets so many more head looks and has so much more potential. Good luck and happy modding.

i used to have an 05 WRX. i miss it sometimes. having AWD here in the northwest comes in handy. mine was a turboXS stage 2 kit. i probably had between 200-215hp to the wheels in the end. it was loads of fun to work on.

Thats not a very fast wrx.... good buddy of mine is well over 500 to the wheels on the jdm 2.0 litre he did 495 whp @ 27psi on only 96 octane.... he tracks it on 32psi and runs mid to high 10's.

congrats on the Z, a much more refined car. no econo box...

I was runnin mid 11's with the wrx on a daily driver. A 10 sec wrx is not a daily driver and it rides and drives like ****. I have ridden in a gt35r turbod sti with over 500hp and there was no boost until 5000 rpms. If you want a 500hp wrx its just for the track and if you do drive it as a daily driver get ready to start replacing transmissions, and axles all the time. But yea the winters here aer actually pretty mild. I don't think we had any snow last year except for some flurries. Either way I will be getting the z tuned and throwing on some deep dish wheels, and i'm installing my test pipes tommorow to finish off what the previous owner had started by adding an apexi exhaust. How much louder will the test pipes make this car than with just the cxat back. Also it will have the stock y pipe until it comes in. I know compared to my wrx its really really quiet with just the cat back.

Nice choice, now you'll get looks from adult women and not 14 year old boys.

Good luck with the mods.

This would be the second day that I have had my 350z and I sold my wrx to get this car. There is 3 inches of snow on the ground as of now lol. Guess I won't be having any fun today. I will be installing my test pipes today though so it will be nice to hear that 350z exhaust note
