Default 350Z-CR, Would you Buy it?

it has been rumored but not confirmed that a group representing Nissan of North America was surveying demographic specific groups at the SCCA nations and several NASA/Time Attack events about s special order 350Z.

To be known as the CR (Club Racer), it would be a complete Option deleted vehicle with additional weight saving such as new seats, Aluminum vs. Caste iron parts, etc to bring the weight down to "around" 3K, possibly under. It would additionally have a much stiffer suspension setup, and cross frame bracing for additional rigidity. The suggested price range would be $36-$39K and would be a limited run.

This has not been verified, not has any results been posted. How many here would be interested in such a car?

So no performance addons? Just suspension and weight?

Totally. If it came to Canada, I'd buy without a thought.

My guess with the new HR motor they would hope to capture the BS crown. A ringer like Dodge did with the Neon ACR

I would buy one. 36-39K is not that much more than an 05 track model. With reduced weight and suspension... half the mods are already done for us lol.

sounds good, but paying a premium to get less seems... crazy.

Guess it would depend on the price of the suspension and weight savings parts.

I'd buy one, it sounds like what Honda/Acura did with the Integra Type R around 2000-2001. My friend has a 01 Type R and its amazing the difference between his car and a GSR.

Tell Nissan I want one bad. Strip it, no sound deadening, no carpets, no headliner, nothing. If this comes true, I WILL put money down, even if I have to go to the States. Please update me.

thats what i was about to say. u can get a base for 29k out the door. u can strip it out urself, if u don't wanna scrap off the sound insulation crap u can take it to a shop and they'll do it for relatively cheap (compared to 7-8k premium), while its in the shop, have them stitch weld the chassis and put in a roll cage. say that set u back 3k, u still have 4-5k left. use that to buy moton's or similar suspension and u'll have a stiffer chassis and much better handling than a factory "firmer" suspension would give you. oh and throw in another grand to buy a good lsd.

now if they did the same thing that mitsu did with the evo rs... left part off and passed on the savings to the customer, then i think i'd be a valid consideration.

face it, anyone who would buy a "club racer" version would most likely end up adding what i listed above anyway, save maybe a 5k suspension

If you strip it yourself though, it's ugly because it wasn't meant to be stripped. I'd hope for a clean, light interior that you just can't do yourself, plus lighter materials all around.

at a good price, definitely.
but that is not a reasonable price for taking things out of the car IMO.

Yes, but somebody has to take them out and a special model built for a low volume. That costs money.
