Default 06 or 07 ???

I have always wanted the Z in Silverstone. It's my favorite color by far. Now that I'm finally ready to purchase a Z Nissan has discontinued Silverstone for 2007.

So my dealer can get me (from another dealer) a 2006 SS Touring or I can get a 2007 in a different color. Before you say just get the 07 in Carbon Silver let me tell you that I have seen the Carbon Silver in person and it is not the same thing. Its too dark for my taste.

So do I get the 06 in the color I've always wanted or get the 07 with the new motor in a color that I don't like as much as Silverstone?

P.S. -- As far as the 07 hood I think it looks ok (don't love it, don't hate it) so that really isn't a factor for me.

Thanks!!!

Thumbs up

Its really up to you. If you just want the car for looks and to drive around just get the color you want. but if you really want the new hr motor and want to mod the heck out of it... then I'd say go with a slightly different color and eventually it'll grow on you.
But personally I'd go with the 07 carbon silver.

You should be able to get a pretty good deal on the 06. Its your call. If you want the SS, I would act fast.

Test drive both cars.
Keep in mind possible oil consumption of 06, easy access oil dipstick of 07, more power of 07, 07 bragging rights, plus the better gas mileage of an 07.

07 no brainer

If your going to mod your car at all get the 07

You can paint the car if its such a huge deal to you and get a custom silver no one else has if that floats your boat

Got my 06.5 for 1.5K under sticker. They paid my trade off, too. Owed 18K, was worth 13K.

Oh, also, I saw a new '07 in Carbon Silver yesterday, and I think it looks great. It's a question of personal taste, though.

I thought the rebate is only $1K? How did you manage to get them to eat another $500?

(edit: scg did you mean $1500 under sticker or invoice???)

Thanks for the posts so far everybody.

BTW, I do not plan to mod the car.

It's just going to be a weekend toy for me.

Depends on the dealer. Right now there is $1000 cash back on the 06's. I would say anywhere from 1-2,000 off.

Tough situation. I feel the same way except with LeMans Sunset. Honestly, if I was given a choice of an '06 Sunset and any '07....I'd probably go with the '06 just because I love the color so much and its not available anymore.

Camaro there are so many 06's still sitting around here in FL that I would start my negotiating at $1K under invoice. You have to remember these brand new 06's are going to be 2 year old cars in another 7 months.

A dealer in Tampa today had 5 or 6 06's on his lot and was hiding 2 07's in the back.

$1,500 under sticker. They had EIGHT '06 models, and were trying to make way for '07s. Not sure why, when one of the salesmen said it'd been almost 2 months since they sold a Z.

Think about what the weather is like in North Dakota right now. Not many people looking to buy sports cars. Which is why this time of the year is ideal for buying

SS FTW!

I got my 06 at invoice. Was 1 of 3, remaining on the lot, and I happen to know the General Sales Manager...

I purchased my 06 SS about 4 weeks ago.

Sticker was 28,960+ fees = around 30,960.

I pulled off 25,550+ fees equal to around 27,500 out the door

Go with the 06.

the extra $3000 you get with buying the 06 you can gain that 6 extra horsepower easy.

(and mine was made in november 06, no oil consupmtion problems)
