I had a 03 w/ no performance mod's, just volk wheel's.
My 07 feels A TON Faster than my 03, like REALLY noticeably faster. It feel's like a completely different car. Maby its the fact that I went 2months w/o driving the Z, but in all seriousness it feels like a big noticeable difference between my 03 and my 07.
I LOVE MY 07 and i would take it ANYDAY over my 03. ANY DAY OF THE WEEK even, w/ full bolt on's i think. It is just so much nicer.
Both were touring's btw.

The performance difference between all pre-07 models was negligible. While the published weights for the 05/06's went up, people that have weighed the cars found little difference. In addition those cars have the revup motor which gains some hp in exchange for a similar amount of torque.
As far as 03's vs 04's in terms of reliability, I think it's a wash. 03's definitely had a few smaller issues but my guess is those would be taken care of via TSBs by now. The 04's still had all the tranny/tire issues. Even the 05's seem to have tranny issues (frequency prob less than earlier years).
Bottom line is there is probably no perfect car...get one you like and enjoy it.

I have a 2003 Touring A/T with 38K. The only problem I have had is the driver side window motor sometimes acts up. Maybe 3 times since I got the car new. Previous post show the motors will go out. No other problems at all and it burns no oil like some of the 2006 models. I am on my original tranny. The only repair I have had to do is replace the front brake pads at 25K and that is normal. Great car and year I think.

I don't know about that..... I have really high hopes for the "new" 306Hp motor, the G35 4 door 2007 does 0 to 60mph in 5.2seconds.
The 2007 350z is exactly 183lbs lighter then the G35, so I don't see why it shouldn't drop below 5 seconds. I guess we will see when they do a test on the 2007.
Has anyone done a road test for the 2007 350z??

Also have an 03 with no major issues. Window streaks fixed as well as a blown window motor. Still will take this car out even having a brand new Audi A4 Quattro sitting in the garage.

If it's just straight away speed you want, why are you looking at a Z? They are so much more than that. I would say apart from the less cost of an earlier year, the model you get may influence you more than the year.
