I have recieved 2 tickets but mainly because the cops are just jealous that some younger person has a better car than them. The mustang like the Z is awful in the snow, but it can be a hell of a lot of fun too. So when the weather is awful like it has been in Indiana for the past two weeks i drive my dads Ford 150 and he has had to drive his 2006 gs430 which is his daily driver.

Also, for those that are saying that you should get some front wheel drive or awd vehicle i don't think it really matters. you can be a dumbass in any sort of car. I thought my car would also get messed with at my school but it hasn't, i make sure i don't make any enemies and try to keep a low profile and don't talk **** about other people. But it sounds like you won't have a problem with this because your school has some really nice vehicles. If i were you i would either go with a used m3 or the z.
Just a little advice that v6 mustang won't be **** compared to a Z. I've pulled on them with my truck (4.3L GMC Sonoma). And the police are jealous of it? I'm sorry, but please that's pretty funny.

I would venture to say that it seems everyone in this forum is rather young as well and can't afford a 2nd one the next day in cash either.

i got Z as my first car and IMO it's better because you are more careful with it and not as reckless, at least i'm not, might just be me. but if i had an old beater i prolly would be reckless, however i love my Z and dont want it to get wrecked so i am extra careful

Seriously... you should get a crap car, and drive the hell out of it for a year. Then get a more powerful crap car and drive the hell out of it. You'll probably end up destroying one of them. Which is fine, but then you learn something and move on. By the time you're 21, maybe you'd be safe to drive a 350.
thats true and also wrong... my parents got me my Z befor i was even 16...i got my license learned how to drive stick and been driving Z ever since never crashed or anything...like a few other people said on the other posts..all depends on if ur mature enough to drive it car and not do stupid stuff with it

Get a Civic! Is your first name Delta and a last name of Force?

Get what you want. If your grandparents can afford it & they wanna buy it for you, great. Some guys here drove beaters when they were in high school & think you outta suffer like them If all the cool kids in your school drive cool cars, then you outta too. And since you're conscientious enough to go on a forum and ask, then you're conscientious enough to own a 350z. Just remember when you get it, don't paint the calipers all messy like the last fool that owned my Z cuz that's ghetto.

I don't recall ever saying that the truck was fast at all, I just used the comparison to show how "fast" a V6 Mustang is. It isn't a slop though. 190 HP and 255 ft. lbs. in a small truck is pretty good. I'm not bashing you just letting you know. Also what all is done to your Mustang? I can't imagine much, since you resorted to racing your grandpa's car.

I got a 350Z as my first car only about a month ago (16 years old). I do not try anything stupid to get myself killed even though I am sure I can control it. Although as a teen it would be nice to ride around with friends instead of a 2 seater all the time, but when I feel that need I just take my bro's lexus.

My parents bought me a new Mustang GT for my first car and at the time I thought it was a great idea. In reality I wasn't mature enough to handle the resposibilty of a high performance car and am lucky to still be alive today. I wrecked the car twice in the first six months of ownership so my dad wised up and bought me a 1988 RX7. Keep in mind this was back in 1991. The Rx-7 turned out to be a great car for me because it was much slower and more forgiving than the Mustang while still being fun to drive.

In today's world I would think something like a Civic Si or even a WRX would make a decent first car if you want something sporty while still allowing for that extra margin of error a new driver really needs. With that said, when my two boys are old enough to drive I am buying used sedans that are front wheel drive and have poor power to weight ratios until they have had more experience behind the wheel.

I learned to drive a car on a FWD but my first daily driver was a Camaro and let me tell you its a different world in a rear wheel drive car. Dry streets not so much but drop some rain and you are just asking to leave a greasy spot somewhere. I considered myself a mature person and in hindsight I still believe I was for my age but the experience factor made me a a dangerous weapon on the road. Luck, the grace of God, or whatever is the only reason I scraped by without a major accident or suspended license.

There are those here that have these cars at your age and it sounds like some in your school. They are safe and alive (for now) but that doesn't mean its the best for you short term or long term.

Something else that isnt mentioned by anyone is the view out of the Z. You cant see out of it as well as you can a lot of cars. Blind spots are the devil.

If they want to give you a 30-35K car great more power to you but really pick something else thats more friendly to new drivers.

If you were really mature you would take the money they are going to give you and buy a 10-15k car and put the rest in the bank for when you graduate college you can get that 350Z free and clear and be on your way in the world .

Yeah, they are ferrari killers. And the rsx can run on diesel fuel or kerosene in a pinch too. Heck, just dump some used motor oil in the gas tank for good measure next time you change your oil! Gotta luv that rsx k20 power plant. fwd/k20 ftw!

That's definitely something to take into account. I'm 26 and I'm done with school, and people STILL insist on spilling stuff on my Z, spitting on it, etc.

When I was your age, I got six speeding tickets in a Nissan QUEST. If I had a Z, I would probably be dead now.

Life is long, and you have much to learn, especially if you're asking people on the Internet if you think you can handle this car. It's not a beef on you. You sound more together than I was at that age. Just weigh all the facts and come to your own conclusion.

Good luck. I don't know if I could even turn this car down at your age.
