Don't let him scare you off. This is America, you have the right to crash any car you would like. As long as you can afford it, its all good.

First car you driven or first car bought? As a young driver, I cursed my parents for handing me a broken down honda as my first car but after all the accidents as a reckless kid, it was probably for the best. Now I baby my Z

No, it's not a bad idea. It's all a matter of how mature you are to be able to handle and safely operate such a powerful car.

Wow, be ready for alot of negative feedback!

In most instances a 16/17 year old isn't responsible enough to own such a car but thats not saying every 16/17 year old is that way. Personally when i was that age i took care of the cars i drove and i still take care of my Z now. It really depends on the person.

Responsibility aside, the Z is OK as a first car but it lacks space and isn't the best on gas. If you carry alot of stuff around and your paying for your own gas, thats something to take into consideration. Its perfectly feasible for the Z to be a first car. Just be careful and take care of it!

Ask yourself this, can your grandparents buy you a second one?

If you are a mature person on the road, you can drive any car you want but if you can't help but WOT everywhere and drift every u-turn then you need to start with a cheaper car. Age does not always determine your maturity, u just need a proper mind set....but then again u may think u are mature enough but you may act differently once u get into the car....

50 bucks says you crash it 2 months after buying it, in one of 3 ways...

1. You get cocky after 2 months, thinking you can do anything. Ooops wrong.
2. You're driving along, when all of a sudden you spin out on the highway "through no fault of your own" or "there was water on the road" and having no clue on how to drive you lose it.
3. Coming off a freeway exit you hit the brakes too hard, shift at the wrong time, let off the gas at the wrong time or accelerate at the wrong time and lose it.

Seriously... you should get a crap car, and drive the hell out of it for a year. Then get a more powerful crap car and drive the hell out of it. You'll probably end up destroying one of them. Which is fine, but then you learn something and move on. By the time you're 21, maybe you'd be safe to drive a 350.

Thanks for replying. And I would be very happy to speak with the buyer. The buyer is the person with the money. The one who makes the decisions.

I don't think it's a good idea. I know that if I would have had a Z when I first started driving, and had little to no experience handling myself behind the wheel, that I would have put it into a tree. I think it would be a good idea to learn on something else first, something with less power, and preferably FWD or AWD I would say. Then you could transition to the Z after getting some experience on the road.

Usually not a good idea.

Of course at the time I wanted a car like a 350z for my first but I'm glad now that I didn't. First car shouldn't be a powerful one IMO.

You're asking on a 350z forum so it sounds like you're not even sure if you can handle it. Still if I was being offered one there's no way I'd say no...but don't be stupid and reckless. Far easier said than done starting out driving............
