Default 02 330ci or 03 350z

Im new to this forum... I'm 17 and currently own a 2002 BMW 330Ci. It's a great car and all but my friends dad is an owner of a nissan dealer and owns a 2003 blue 350z. He wants to sell it to get the altima coupe for a year then get the GT-R when it comes out. He's going to sell it for about 20 grand so i was thinking that i could trade in my car and pay a little for the 350. It was kept in very good condition and i was wondering what your thoughts of this situation are.

Test drive the Z. 20k is a good price. If you don't mind me asking, what's the mileage on the car?

Again, drive them both. If you can afford the Z, go for it. Will be a blast compared to your current car.

Good luck.

I see these kinds of threads/polls all the time here. Most are the silly "which should i get?". Occasionally there are the more intelligent "what are the pros/cons of the 350Z? i'm trying to decide what car to get".

In 350z forum, what do you think we're all going to say?

Tell mommy and daddy that you want a Porsche. Don’t settle for anything less.

lol i had a 330ci driver try and convince me the other day his car was faster than a z. you are talking about leaping from a luxury sports sedan, to a sports car.

3.0 litre BMW engine, to 3.5 litre Nissan.

if you are responsibl enough to resist the temptation of racing and not doing stupid **** in ur car (like drifting turns and such), then i would say you should get the Z. I guess im biased cuz i have one, but i dont want to see another thread about a 17 year old wrecking ANOTHER Z. just look around on these boards. you will see how many totalled Z's we've seen in the last few months.

whatever you do, enjoy what you have and drive responsibly

And considering the fact that your warranty ran out in 2006, your parents and you are probably spending a LOT taking care of that BMW. The Z is cheaper in this respect... but BMWs do hold their value better than most other vehicles so it seems to me you already have a decent car. I wouldn't be trading in cars.

My wife has a 2002 330i.

I like it alot. Very comfortable. Easy to drive. Very solid feeling.

Totally different from a Z.

It's already been said that the Bimmer will hold it's value better than the Z will. You really should drive it and see what you like better. I personally enjoy each car for different reasons as they are completely different. You just need to figure out what you want.

Good luck!

What difference does it make how he got his car? He's asking a legitimate question, and all you can do is be as$holes? Wow, you're real internet tough guys.

Dude, just test drive both vehicles. I think a Z fits a 17 year olds life style much better than a Bimmer. It's just a gorgeous car regardless of the power. When you're driving that BMW you're just driving the badges, thats all anyone sees. When you're rockin' a Z, you'll notice all the broken necks as you drive around campus. I'd get the Z, but as someone said, I may be a little biased.

Truthfully, since you're in college, I'd sell the BMW and get a beater car unitl I graduated. Keep the money in a savings account, so when you get out, you can get something you really want.

Every site I go to has one or more of these young drivers who, at some point in their stay, ask this very question or make a comment that shows they have a nice car that their parents obviously bought for them...and then every jerk on the forum jumps on them and bashes them. Why? It's a legit question and for a 17 year old to ask this question before taking action is a mature thing to do. Give him a break.

As far as this goes, you SHOULD drive a Z and see what you think. I just got rid of my '98 328i and loved it...finest car I have ever had as an all around car. It was a switch I made based on having driven many 350's and being a lover of Z's in general. I think you have a fine car already (they changed the steering feel for 2002 so it is a REAL bimmer haha) and should hang onto what you already have...but a test drive will tell you what you need to know.

i dont understand this whole 17 year old bull. i was 17 when i got my Z (now 19) and i have been responsible with it and haven't gotten a ticket or been in an accident or beat the living hell out of it. *knock on wood* It just matters on the person. Just help him by answering his question.

I believe you should just keep your car its already very nice, wait a couple years and then upgrade to another sports car. Maybe a new Z?

good luck

Keep your car and upgrade later on. No need to get another car if you just got this one. Matterfact, do whatever you want, no need to ask people online. Is like asking if I should marry a girl or not.. only you know if its right or not. dont let no one else decide for you

Talking about your age and money get people really worked up over the internet. If people perceive that your situation is different then there's somehow it's going to cause a lot of comments like that.

If you're 17 and own a nice car, then a lot of people will rip on you because they weren't fortunate enough to own a nice car when they were that age. Most people had to work really hard to get what they have and they hate to see others obtain it so easily.

The same is true if you are older and also own a Ferrari or some kind of exotic, or show that you have a ton of money. Then people will start getting jealous and want to know what you do for a living, maybe even try to take advantage of what you have...

Best to leave your personal life out as much as possible and keep the focus on the cars...
