Japanese car manufacturers build their bread and butter cars here in the U.S. but a low volume car like the Z is almost always built in Japan.

Built in Tochigi, Japan. I was there for a tour, watched the Z's rolled off the line with the Infiniti M's and G's. The Morano must be built in a different plant along with the FX's , I didn't see any of them in Tochigi.

why would you say that its unfortunate if a car is built in canada? thats just silly, canada would have an identical plant to anywhere else...

DavesZ#3 reply after yours is correct.

BTW, Tochigi and Oppama are two totally different places. I got to take a tour of one of the two Nissan plants at Oppama. Unfortunately, the plant producing the Z was not open to the public for tours at that time.

Also, I know it doesn't necessarily mean the whole car was made in Japan, but if you look under the dashboard panels, the stickers on the frame have the place and date the part/car was assembled.

that makes me happy that it's made in japan. those japanese dudes are crazy with their perfection and their efficient mannerisms..... it just seems more right that a guy named nagasaki yoshimura kawasaki built my car as apposed to joe dirte...
