for $10,000 I would get a bike for $7000 and put tires and rims on the Z for $3,000. Throw in another $500 and I would lower it and put in a plenum spacer.

Putting $10k cash towards a loan could be foolish, depending on the APR of the loan. If you got your loan at 5% APR and you can make 10% by investing, then invest your $10k over the course of the loan and pay the minimum require monthly payments. Then at the end of the loan you'll have your depreciated car plus 5% per year of your $10k investment, or the alternative is to not have that 5% per year gain and have your depreciated car.

But yeah, back in the real world, you still can't get a turbo setup fr under $10k. This doesn't even factor in when your engine blows up, and it probably will. I personally would never spend $10k on modifications, at least not all at once. This is assuming that I am making the measely five-figure salary that I currently earn.

Down payment? F that. And to think, I still have negative equity and I'm spending money like it's going out of style.
