Welcome... First off, My friend has an 04 mini S and does handle well.. I know what you mean about the play in the steering wheel.. Let me first say that I've owned an EVO before and Girl has an STi.. When I first bought my Z, it handled well, but Not enough for me.. After adding springs, front and rear sways, and good tires, I believe it would out handle previous driven cars, including the mini S.. There is very good feedback in the steering wheel.. I feel more connected in the Z than any other car I've driven.. Good luck with your choice

Ill have to find the website again but I found that a 2000 camaro SS had better track times than the honda S2000 stock for stock.
Auto-X V8 cars can rotate well and given large enough tread can negotiate a course fairly well --- the sheer torque helps get going quickly (again with tread to lay it down) but in measured tests that isolate lateral response and road grip the F-Bodies are not handling gods by even a slight measure

The handling ability of the Z is one of the main things that drew me to it. It does drive a bit heavy, especially compared to your mini. You will feel the difference in heft for sure. In stock form the Z is very stable but does have a good amount of body roll. With my suspension set up (I'm about to get the Tanabe 4 point underbrace as well) it has become very flat and with my intake and exhaust mods I have more power up high which I didn't have before. It has become a very good track car. The only thing I could ask for is more power (a supercharger would be great if I had the money, ). It's a really enjoyable car and one thing that I didn't even think about when I bought it is the wow factor with people who see it. I have kids and their dads who do double takes when they see it and people that come up and just want to sit in it and see what the Z is all about because it's a beautiful car that catches people's imagination.

I had the Mini Cooper S before the Z, and I got to tell you those lil Minis are something else. Handling wise you really cant loose control of this car. Pull the emergency brake and have fun. But I felt like a Giant in the car, witch I didnt like, also even though its supercharged its still a real smal 4 Banger. To compare it to a Z is like apples to Grapes, there is no comparison. The Z has *****, and it handles really well. You feel like your in a Drivers Car. Hard to explain until you drive it.
