I believe they are using the Z32 tranny. It doesn't matter if Skyline are AWD since they are not using their drivetrain. Just the engine and the TURBO!

On a sidenote: We wanted the RB/TT for our Quest, but had to settle with a VG30DETT instead - there's no FWD tranny for the RB block.

Again, that's damned impressive. But, 625hp is kiddy **** on a single-turbo RB/TT. More likely they'll be pushing 800 crank hp.
Other than the turbo, they probably just have the obvious upgraded ECU. I'm sure there's a simple reason why they're just sitting at 625 HP.

I set the hp goal to 625RWHP; simply because I live in Atlanta and we have some of the worst traffic in the US. I want my car drivable on the street at all time. Granted, we could squeeze 950rwhp out of this car as easy as we squeezed it out of the Batlground Supra.

The supra drives on the street all the time, but mostly at night. I just want my car very reliable and easy to drive.

And as light as the car is at 625rwhp, there isn't a lot of competition.

Eventually, we may build this car to around 900-1000rwhp, but as of now, I want this a true street car.

And yes, I am using the skyline transmission as well.

btw, I think we get the same HP Z car

we still are missing the skyline (though that could change soon as we see a Infiniti GT-R), the NSX Type-R/S, etc....but it is getting better
The JDM spec Evo is better than the US one. It has AYC in place of emissions controls.

Yeah the Evo's drivetrain has been watered down so to speak for the US. The AWD system is not as complex as its international counterparts for (reliability?) reasons. (got that from automobile mag.)

I couldn't figure out why they would put this engine in the car until I picked up the line that said you could 1,000 hp out of this engine with some mods. Some mods? Quad turbos flowing into a nitrous ported supercharger? 1000 hp is insane. You need 24 inch wide wheels to put the power to the ground and wheeler bars!!!!!

Actually you just convert the two turbos into replaced by two massive turbos, a bunch of exhaust work, some engine reinforcement new camshafts, new head, forged pistons, new connecting rods, gaskets and oil pump, and maybe a little nitrous.

900hp is a lot more plausible though. Check out these supra upgrade kits http://www.suprastore.com/45suppac.html bout the same amount of upgrades needed to make similar power in a skyline. They start out at 320hp, underrated at 280 on the spec sheet. New turbos will net you 600hp easily. Just to let ya know.

Well my family imports used JDM engines, and we've been doing it for over 20 years. Just recently we've started importing the high performance stuff. I give you props, takes guts to dig deep into a brand new car like that. Anyways we have one RB26DETT entire front clip with AWD transmission from a R32 GTR for sale. The price is $4500. We've also got a 96 R33 with 56,000km for sale, asking price is $26k. For racing purposes only. Registration and legalization would be up to you. 2000 Spec R Sylvia 26,000Km $22K asking price. Lots of other stuff. Hopefully this gives you an idea of what it would cost to do asomething like this. At least just the parts aspect.

forgive my ignorance, but is the RB26DETT a newer model engine?

How much is a brand new skyline engine?

I miss the abundance of RB engines back in Australia. I just hope the VQs turn out as great. Holden Commodore Calais, inline 6 RB30 single turbo. Add an exhaust, intercooler and boost controller...12 sec car for under 10k AUD (including car), thats 5k US dollars, beautiful looking cars too IMO.
Not to mention you can buy a used R34 GTR for about the same price as new 350z.

thumbs up though, goodluck with the conversion, keep us posted here.

Is the R33 a GTR or GTS?

Wouldn't it suck if one of us switched out our motors and the VQ ended up being just as capable.. But that's not feasible because the RB26DETT comes with a factory turbo with low compression.... or am i wrong?
