Gas Mileage and 6th gear
hey, i city drive alot and most of my driving is on streets that have 40 mph limits. i usually get 15-16 mpg in the city becuase i usually keep the revs at 2k. well one day i decided to try and keep the revs at 1.5k and in order to do that i drove around in 6th gear going about 44 mph cruising along. i was wondering though that could this be bad for the engine or the tranny? the engine sounds really deep however, i did get the mpg to peak at 22 mpg which would be nicer if i could continue to do that seeing as gas is now $3.45 for prem around here. so is 6th gear going at that slow of a speed gona hurt anything, or is it ok to continue doing it and then downshift when i need to speed up or something? thanks
That's perfectly fine!
If anything, ur babying ur engine at that engine speed.
U will be able to sustain ur current engine condition doing that.
Just make sure u let her scream once every now and then.
I feel ya about the $. Gas prices in my town r almost nearing ur town's prices.

The owners manual gives guides for shifting, but I don't remember what it says about 6th. I guess if you are not lugging it, all should be fine. If you are lugging it, you won't get as good milage as you would by shifting down.
