Default window TSB nightmare

well i ordered the parts they came in so I went down to gwinnett place nissan yesterday to have them fix my window streaks. Picked up my car EOD and the drivers side window was not put back right and there is a thumb size gap between the molding and the glass. So today I take it back I come to realize that they didn't even do the passenger side so I tell them to fix the window and do the TSB on the passenger side as well. So they finish I notice the metal on the inside handle (the thing you close the door with) is bent I ask them why and they said they needed to take off the metal to take the door panel off. So I proceed to show them how to properly take off the door panels and notice that all the plastic fastener on the passenger door panel are broken and bent off. So now they have to order me a new passenger door panel. I almost lost it I told them to order me the panel and I'd come pick it up and replace it myself. But this isn't the nightmare part.

I get home and wash my car and notice new window streaks so now i have completely lost my mind. I'm happy I don't own a gun because all those goddamned kids at the service department would be dead. So I have the xerox of the TSB and a set of the parts needed I guess when I get my new door panel next week I will have to fix the streaks as well.

Does anyone know a competent nissan service department in the atlanta area?

sorry for the mishap. im thinking that the little grease that i have is not worth having them disassemble my car to fix for a chance of screwing something up, as in your case. ive heard nothing but good stuff about regal nissan. might wanna try there.

Default Thanks for the info, del105!

del105,

I feel terrible about what happened and continues to happen to you. I have grease on my window, too. So I was extremely happy to see a TSB come out illustrating how to fix the problem. But for the exact reason for what's happened to you...the HELL with getting it fixed. I was worried that once these goofball, $5.00/hour "technicians" start ripping my doors apart the doors will NEVER be the same again. Sure, we can keep taking the cars back, but don't we want to enjoy the ride other than when were taking it to the dealer to get something fixed or replaced? Your situation has convinced me to deal with the grease rather than having to deal with rattles or missing parts or broken/bent parts. I sincerely hope you get this issue resolved. And thank you for keeping my car in a little better condition. Your dealership should be ashamed of how it has handled your situation. Tell the OWNER what has happened and tell the OWNER you are going to tell as many people about how his/her dealership handled the problem. If I lived in Atlanta, and trust me, if it were still December I wish I did, I would never even consider visiting this dealership even if they were giving cars away! Note to Atlanta car buyers: STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP!

My 2¢

Michael

well after the first time i brought my car in because of the streak, this was before the TSB, the windows started to squeak, and not open as fast as they initially did. So i agree with the above statments. But since its sorta messed up already, and my car is going in for a new tranny, im gonna have them try the TSB.

I've learned the fewer visit's to the dealer the better. I can live with the grease on the window because I know it will eventually go away.. I learned my lesson with a "so called" recall repair on my 1981 S-10 Blazer. The dealer screwed it up so bad, they had to loan me a car for 3 weeks.. It was never right after that and I quickly sold it..

There are Great Dealers, Good Dealers and Bad Dealers. I have a great dealer - one of the best in the country actually: Habberstad Nissan, Long Island. My door was reassembled properly like factory new. If you have a bad dealer, find another dealer. By the way, a Nissan mechanic worked on my car, not a "goofball, $5.00/hour 'technicians'". I've established a relationship with my Service Manager and many of the mechanics which is always a good idea.

I will let you know if the grease streaks return next week. Apparently this fix may lessen the streaks but not eliminate them completely. I'll keep you posted.

By the way, let's try to keep the grease streak posts to the main thread here: https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....&postid=268082

Anybody know if the parts(kits) can be purchased? And if so how much? Sounds like if you don't have a competent service department..might be worth looking into doing it yourself. Even though my car isn't even here yet, but for some reason I just get bad vibes about my dealer, hope I'm wrong on this one.

Well they are giving me entire new door panels I'm going to install them myself and it will be good as new. I called sutherlin nissan they seem to have their **** together, that and the fact that they are the only dealer in atlanta that can actually align a Z in house I think i'm going to go there from now on.

It's been only 4 days since I had mine done. It was done with no damage to the doors or misalignment of the windows. Time will tell if this is a permanent fix..I don't see why not though.
