Default Daily driving:shift at what rpm

The speed limit in my city is 30mph pretty much everywhere. I shift at 2300 rpms in first, 2200, in second, etc., etc. I try to be fuel conscious so I end up in 5th gear going about 31 most of the time. If I have a stretch i'm going about 34mph in 6th. I wanted to know at what rpms do you guys shift for daily driving (normal acceleration)...because the clutch is kind of sensitive. It seems I REALLY have to feather it from 1st to 2nd in order to get a smooth shift without any jerk (transition from 2-3rd, and up to 6th is seamless). Keep in mind when I say jerk, I mean maybe the passenger moves forward a little. Not the kind of jerk that's obnoxious and wreaks of inexperience.

It's just kind of a pain in the *** to start in 1st sometimes... I try to start in second if i'm still rolling because starting in second is ultra smooth. Does this put unnecesary wear on 2nd gear?

usually around 2500 rpms around town. I try to be fuel concious too.. only getting around 17-18mpg tho.. FYI.. the manual recommends shifting around 2000 rpms for daily driving

same here for me... i ususally shift at around 2k and the speeds that you described were about right. ~30 in 5th ~35 in 6th, the limit on our streets is ~35 so i end up in 6th all the time..

Sounds about right for me too.. I end in 5th much of the time and shift with low rpms ~ 2000-3000.
