Default advise on buying through a member

Guys, I never purchase anything from a member before, I would like to know if its a little risky to do so when the seller is in US and I am in Canada? Also, he doesn't have any itrade record...please advise!

what are you buying and for how much? I wouldn't buy anything expensive unless it was from a very reputable member. Keep in mind paypal doesn't treat you the same in the case of fraud because it's not on ebay.

Well.... there are risks envolved with everything. I would not have a problem with purchasing from a member with no itrade record as long as they have been on here for a while. Someone trying to sell you some rims for 3K that has been a member for 2 days might be an issue thou.

I wouldnt risk it with someone that has no itrader feedback.

where does the person live? Maybe you can have a member with good standing in that area help you with the transaction so as to not get ripped off?

how many posts does this person have? Sometimes you see members that have been members since 03 with 2 posts trying to sell stuff. I would consider number of posts first because I don't think a scammer would be posting much, especially since if you scam someone on here the whole site seems to gang up on you.

It's a crap shoot. The US Canada thing has nothing to do with it.

Or perhaps you can find a reputible member who is in the US near the seller to help you verify information.
