I'm guessing the lesser the miles the more value it has and of course if it's good shape. And the whole RSX over the Z thing, its purely sarcasm.

I bought my 2005 Track in June 2005 new for about $36k OTD. Last time I checked KBB, it was worth $24k in 'good' condition.

So, IMO, not very well at all.

The retail value of your car in excellent condition is 28,300.
Private party in excellent conditon is 25900. ANd basically a 2 year old car should be in excellent condition.

IMO Zs don't hold thier values very well, but it's no different than most cars in its class. Mileage will always dictate the value of your car, but don't think KBB or Edmunds is the exact value that you'll get. The value of your car from a dealer's point of view is dicated by the your market region and the wholesale pricing of the car based on demand. Most dealers will not apraise your car at excellent condition. That is why private party is the way to go if you want top dollar for your car. The fact that many kids are able to afford this car should tell you how well the Z holds its value.

I would think they don't hold there value. I have my 2006 350Z w/ 11k miles listed in the for sale section for $21,500 which should be a steal. I bought it new 4 months ago. So I guess we will see. When it sells I'm going to get another corvette.

No sensible car is an investment and most dont really hold their value and the Z is no exception. So just enjoy it

$36k OTD? I remember I tried to place an offer on a 06 track last year and a dealership offered around that amount. I thought it was too high so I walked out. I said to the sales guy "$34.5k or I'm walking!"LOL!
I guess $36k OTD offer is a decent deal for a track model.

Did you shop around other nissan dealerships in your area for a track model in '05 or did you think it was a good deal for $36K?

about normal, less when compared to Honda or Subaru.

It's what you expect from a 2 door 2 seater sports car, such as miata or boxster.

Publications that track prices, such as Consumer Reports, rank 350Z depreciation much better than average. I suppose the reason is supply and demand.

I think that the cars hold their value pretty good compared to other Nissans. I bought a new 2005 Nissan Altima that had a window sticker of $22,200 in May of 2005 and when I got rid of it in Oct of 2006 trade in value was $13,000 with only 19,000 miles. That is a ridiculous price drop for only having the car 18 months with that low of miles.

On average a new car will drop 40% of its value in the first 4 years. After that it levels off a bit. I bought my 03 used and it hasn't dropped too terribly much since then. That said its a car and will continue to depreciate.

Compared to a Kia or a Chevy, I think the Nissan holds up pretty well. As for an RSX, well, Chuck Norris drives one, so that should tell you something.

Like with any other vehicle, it all depends on how you maintain it.

the last two cars i sold(one 05 driven for about a year and the other 06 for 5 months), i only lost sales tax and license.
The secret is not buying all kinds of jacked up options and wait for dealer incentives and big rebates before buying.
i saw an 03 track with 26k miles at carmax listed for 26k$.

I think the depreciation sucks. Sometimes it seems I can barely keep up making payments b/c getting upside down on a car is terrible.

Getting a good price I can do. I bought a 03 IS300 for KBB trade in value 16500
and it was sticker 24,999. bought my 96 3000GT spyder SL which at the time in 1997 was 44k, I drive off the lot with it for 25k. My prelude I bought from a privet seller so of course I got it for a great deal compared to what the dealers wanted for it. The trick IMO to buying a car, atleast from a dealer is NEVER deal with those sales men. I go to one dealer I know Im not going to get the car from test drive it there. Then go to dealers with the similar car, and talk directly to the Fleet Sales manager so I cut off a good portion of price im going to be paying. The 3000GT however I bought from the factory they just happened to have that car on a Factory owned sales lot.

Im looking at a 06 GT right now for 28500 OTD. isn't full loaded but I don't care, don't need all that ****. It has 10k miles on it.
I don't like though, The minute I drive off the lot its worth 1 Grand less than I just payed for it.
