$45K? Did it come with a stripper? I mean seriously, how the hell does a $33k car cost $45k? Did you walk in and say "Yes, I like that car and put a crystal chandelier as an option please."

Less than 5% of vehicles fall into the excellent condition. Most are good or fair. KBB is not accurate at all when it comes to trade ins. The Z's do not hold value very well actually. I have taken in over 10 as trade ins so I know first hand what they put into them.

From what Ive seen for the past couple of years, the Z holds a pretty decent value. No need the extra options to rack the price up. That's where you're definitely gonna lose money on. DavidV is right on the money:the supply and demand is the real reason why people say that its doesn't hold value really well. Selling it privately is really hard as most people don't wanna spend over $20k on a used car regardless of which car it is, unless its rare.

I still don't know why Honda has a good resale value. Ive owned 3 Hondas in the past, and still can't figure it out. All the cars had parts breaking down in sequence. If it wasn't something, then it was something else. They don't look good, perform good, and pretty much are torqueless. I don't know why people would pay $20k+ for a new Honda and not getting a power in return. Same thing with Toyota cars, which also have a good resale value. I just saw an 06 TC with 19,000 miles and still selling for 21,000, which you can get a brand new one for 19,000 OTD. WTF??!?!

you just hit the nail right on. You forgot to mention the poor braking performance and wide turn radius such as the Acura RSX, i got rid of mine in less than a year with 12k miles on it.

ahaha. funny you said that. I replaced one of my honda's brakes: brembo rotors and pads, and the car felt even slower. The braking was a lot better probably due to the extra weight slowing it down more. And you're right about the wide turn radius. The coilovers I had on one, helped out a bit tho'. Slammed it down a bit. Stock Honda/Acuras= You practically have to change everything out to get anything out of it.

One of my friends is supposed to pick up an Si today. I researched the #'s and it said 197hp/139tq. If you're gonna pay over $20k for a car at least have power and torque or something. At $26k, you can have a much more powerful and much, much nicer looking 350z base, or even a used Touring. I would never wait in line for any Honda, no matter how good its supposed to be. After owning a Z, my standards for a car have gone up dramatically.

talked to a couple of people at work who drive nothing but Hondas.... obviously they are not car nuts and they've never driven any nissan products. The exact opposite of people who drive M3s as their first cars who will never understand M3s are the exception and not the rule.

I guess $36k OTD offer is a decent deal for a track model.

Did you shop around other nissan dealerships in your area for a track model in '05 or did you think it was a good deal for $36K?
Remember, out the door includes taxes, tags, license, etc. I actually got the car itself for about $500 under invoice price, so yes I think I got a good deal on it. I got mine when the Rev-Up's and tracks were new and I didn't pay out the *** for it. The car also included side and head airbags.

I had a Honda Prelude before this and the car was damn bullitproof. Tracked and auto-x'd it and put 82k all-purpose miles mine. Only issue I had was a known issue where the timing belt wore out early, which Honda covered completely under my extended warranty.
