Traditionally, the Z's engine output was always just a wee bit ahead of the G35c's (until recently), so I think this will be the pattern once the Z is revamped for the next upcoming redesign.

My guess? The Z engine will produce more than the current 330hp of the G.

Nah, you know Nissan...they try to keep it close. Probably more like 337 or something like that...

I strongly think this will be the case as well. But we will see once the new model Z shows up.

I read Car and Driver's G37c road test yesterday, and their result: 0-60mph in 5.2 sec, 19 x 8.5F, 19 x 9R rims, and the car sits overall lower with a wider track. Body has been stiffened-up, I don't remember exactly how many percent, and the new VQ37VHR has about 30% new parts, while the rest is similar to the VQ35HR's. The reviewer noted that while the new engine's increased power can be felt during normally acceleration, it is especially noticeable while exiting corners. They also added that that this 3.7 litter power plant will *very likely* be shared with the rest of Nissan's top cars, including the FX, GTR, and future Z. That's roughtly what I remember; the article is out, so check it for yourself.

If Nissan gets their strategy right, the next Z would have the 3.7L engine to save on cost, a lighter overall weight than the G37c's, and a bit better 0-60 time and performance as a result. Exiting times, lets see what Nissan brings to the table

Wow, I want to see that. I wonder though, wouldnt the weight of the V8 disrupt the balance of 40/50 weight ratio? (or w/e it is in the Z)

I guess. So that means that the new GTR is going to be competing against the new M3?

Well, if it's the 3.7 liter, they'll have to send over the Fairlady badges as well... 370Z sounds stupid.

And I hope the team who designed the new G37 isnt designing the next gen Z.

The new G37 looks like a pile of dog K-R-A-P!!!

I'm pissed because I have to buy or lease one for future "Z engine" R&D.

I'd rather be seen driving in a hot pink & blue STI turbo rice box

Hey Nissan/Infiniti!!! Fire your G37 exterior design team.
It makes me want to puke.

No. The concept they came out with looked so good. The whole thing was perfect from the fron to the end. The new g37 has the concepts front end but they completly messed up the rear end. Shouldve stuck with the concept Infiniti.

I'm with you. I was very dissapointed and pissed they totally screwed up from the concept. The concept just looked soo much better. But slam it and it will at least look decent.

Yeah, I suppose I will. But before I do that, I will have to track it a couple times it to see how it compares to the 06 Z.

I don't want it to be like a 300C. (Luxury muscle with no agility.)

The twisties is all I care about...I have no concern for straight-line drag racing and I don't drink budweiser.

Dawg..."w/e it is in the Z" still has to add up to 100, yeah?

40/50 adds up to only 90... (where'd the other 10% go? j/k )

(at last count, it was 53/47)

NO they G35 sedan came out a year before ....the coupe came out arond the same time as Z

FYI the '08 Z looks the same except for the Nismo edition
the Nismo edition that looks awesome has stiffer chasis & stiffer suspension, incredible looking bumpers
only 1500 will be produced for U.S. ...true collectors item!!

but a overall big disapointment because of no HP increase

Thanks for those pics. Is it just me or is that getting a bit ricey?

And is the Nismo package still going to be a $7k markup? When I was getting my car I saw one and almost choked at the price.
