Default 350Z @ 306hp + G37 at 330 hp

350Z @ 306hp + G37 at 330 hp, is this a trend that the G will get more hp than the Z? Has Nissan decided to make the G37 superior in performance to the Z?

People have been pointing to another Z redesign in 08-09 so I suspect the G is just getting it slightly sooner.

But since it is a more expensive car, maybe they're trying to differentiate the 2 platforms a bit more. In 03 is was basically a backseat for $k more.

I wonder what they'll do to achieve the difference?

I think it would make more sense to drop in the 3.7/3.8L motor for a brand new Z. It's interesting how the Z arrived first, but has not received a full makeover like the G series.

They're currently inventing a button where you can turn on and off how JDM you are. It will be replacing the TCS\VDC button under your steering wheel. We don't need no stinkin' horsepower.

Oh don't forget, the Z32 was introduced in '89 and killed off after '99. Even after 5 years, the Z33 looks fine to me :-)

Besides those who go to the tracks, just how often do people race the "twisties" as is claimed?

That's a little harsh...

I see it as a good way to initially sway the "luxury cruiser/ on-the-fence/ do I want leather with a backseat?" type of guys who aren't really passionate about the "Z" brand.

If any of those factory developed VQ variants from Japan are any indication, I'm sure Nissan has something up their sleeves for the Z33's VQ powerplant.

The G is like the Z's beta phase. Test the motor in the G, make the rich guys pay for the R&D, so us not so rich guys who want the Z can get a motor that works.

Didn't the current G35 coupe come out a year before the 350z? I think that's the way it's been in the past.

The new G37 is designed to rival other companies.. not the 350z.
