Hmm.... Well I have an 03 and I wish I had an 06. My main reasons are the fact that I have that never ending tire feathering and both my windows are broken and not to mention the tranny issues as well.

Track FTW!! FWIW all '03 / '04s have the exact same suspension reguardless of model. At least that is what i have read. Theres a huge debate in the suspension classifieds right now, where a guy is trying to pass off used track springs/sways for a higher price, because they are "stiffer". BUT compared to an '06 it is stiffer. My 2 cents!

Check withyoru dealer. I know there was a sauspension part that was replaced on my '03 under recall by the previous owner. I have had no feathering issues since i have had it. I can't remember what part it was, but the dealer told me it was one of the main reasons for the feathering.

No one has mentioned the 06 comes with EBD. When you turn and hit the brakes, it will kick on and stablize your car, rotating it in the direction of your steering input. One of the reasons the 35th & up models are faster on a road course.
What will it take to get EBD on one without? I'd like to know that much.

I believe EBD is integrated with VDC, which the '03 Track has.

I had an 03 touring and just traded it for an 06 left over. Reasons all mentioned above like tire feathering, window streaks, tranny replaced, I would go for the 06 base personally.

Confirmed, I just read that now. But, I've also seen that a base model comes with EBD, but not VDC. So I guess now you can have EBD, but don't have to have VDC. What the differences are exactly, I'm not sure. They describe almost the same thing.

To the OP: Best Motoring tested the 35th vs an 03 Track. The 35th beat it, pretty consistently on Tsukuba, and if I remember it correctly, also on a drag if that's your thing. Newer car=more refined. But, others like the raw feel of an original design. Doesn't mean they're any faster though.

Interesting. Most people are saying 03 Track, but if you're planning on modding at all, go for the 06. LSD/Brakes/Wheels are stuff most people want to upgrade anyway, and the 06 model is 3 years younger--it'll last that much longer.

On the other hand, if you simply want to drive it the way it is, the track model does look a lot meaner with the Brembos and Rays.

They can alllllllllllllllllllllllll have tranny issues. Run the vin. through a dealership, it takes a few minutes tops. Any history of warranty work will show. You still have some 5/60 powertrain warranty left depending on production date. My 03 has zero feathering issues, zero oil consumption issues and has had 1 tranny. I'm happy.

+1.

All '03's have the same suspension, from base to track.

For a while, the '03 Track was the fastest version of the Z (in a straight line) because the Rays wheels are only 18 lbs per.

(I vote for the Track if you're planning on staying stock)
