Default How well does your cruise control work?

I searched but didn't find anything.

First time Z owner, 2004 Touring Coupe.

I noticed that on a slight downhill that the cruise doesn't hold the speed, is this what you guys have found or is it in need of repair. "going" it works fine, but when going downhill it picks up speed.

I think the largest deviation I've noticed has been about 3 mph.

That's normal. When on the flat the LED, analog display, and my GPS are all within 0.2 mph when sailing along at 80 mph. Going down a steep downhill all the cruise control can do it lower the RPMs to idle - it doesn't work the brakes.

My Xterra has a downhill assist which actually works the brakes to maintain speed going downhill. It uses the ABS abilities to brake the tires one by one as needed to help you crawl downhill.

My Honda van will maintain the speed up or down a reasonable hill, actually, I don't think that I've ever 80K miles needed to "help it" with the brakes.

With the Z, I have mostly done in town driving, and noticed that any "downhill" situation and it will go up 3-5 miles, at that point I applied the brakes. Yes, being an old fart, I use the cruise all the time, tend to have a heavy foot.

I use cruise almost daily.

Uphill its fine, but I find going downhill, it gets on my nerves with the little "jolt" it does, if you will. I just tap the clutch or brakes and coast down the hill -- holds its speed more comfortably.
