Im talking practical in terms of gas. this is gonna be for a college kid who needs his car to make it a 5 min trip to campus and have fun on the weekends. I understand the Z isn't the fastest car on the street and speed isn't the whole issue. I agree the Z is a hundred times better looking than most cars on the street. I thank you for all of your opinions and most of them were the same as mine. I just needed some reasurance. I hope that after this weekend i will be able to call myself a Z owner and really appreciate this forum

 

think this over, dont go just on the views of this forum. go to a gt forum and they will tell you that z's suck and to get a mustang. don't get me wrong, i love my new car. you just need to think it over. as far as being fast, and fun to drive the z is great, but there will always be faster cars. my last car was a vw gti 1.8t, had just about every bolt on other than a bigger turbo. i think that it was a little faster than my Z. after a few mods though, i know that i will be happy.

 

it will be close... if it's a 07 Z. stock vs stock of course.

for 03-06 z's, the new gt stang will give you run for your money and some more. check out stang forums or search for 1/4mi times... they're putting down consistant mid to high 13s stock.

modded gt? forget it. you let that v8 breath just a bit better and they'll break into 12's easily.

I have only been autocroosing for about a year and a half, but my experience at the autocross track has shown the Z's to be much faster than the Mustang GT's.

 

The "HR" engine in the '07 is built so strong that it is rumored it can hold together up to 1000hp.It is a match made in heaven for a screaming twin turbo setup,and even comes with equal length headers from the factory.You will be hard pressed to find a car as well and solidly built as the Z,or as safe, at any cost. To even speak of a Ford product comparison to a Z is pure blasphemy.See which one has the best resale in 5 years,and which one is the absolute darling of the Tuner market-only one answer to that!

 

you will beat a harley davidson f150 in the 1/4mile..they are heavy as hell! he might get you off the line but that's it. go test drive an 07 Z and you will fall in love.

 

the z's have power throughout the whole power band.especially the 07's. the GT has good low end power but then it falls flat the faster you go..that's why it seams faster..it's got a lot of torque from the start but then it falls flatter where the z's power feels constant.

 

Drive the Z. I test drove a new Mustang GT the same day I test drove the Z. I had no intention of buying any car that day, but ended up taking the Z home. The Mustang was WAY too big and heavy for my tastes.

 

That doesn't mean the Z is faster, it means it handles a whole helluva lot better than the Mustang. I was talking about staright-line speed, which as I said before, should be really damn close stock -vs- stock.

I think my friend put it best he said i have no simpathy for you either way you get a good car it's like going out and saying well do i bang the blonde or brunette, it's still a good night in the end, i just think the z is a much sexier blonde ( ; any car i buy wil have problems and i could say i should have got that but i gotta think about insurance and gas and reliability this car is for an 18yr old if i had money for insurance an 03 cobra would be in my driveway

oh yea and my cousins harley f-150 has a 6lb. lower pulley, k&n air filter, full magnaflow exhaust and it was all tuned on a dyno. I think now he's either upgrading super chargers or modding the one he's got. His big heavy truck pulls hard

I'd have to disagree... Z is a brunette. Blondes are psycho, purpose-built ****** that like to get beat on (like my Evo, that would be a blonde). Brunettes are smooth, sophisticated, and drop-dead sexy.

GTO is and ugly car, i read it is the most horsepower for the money though and the gt is the fastest 0-60 for the money, but the 350z is the best car for under $30 grand

 

Amen... looks like an overgrown Sunfire. Sure sounds nice and pulls hard though. Just too plain looking.
