If you're lucky you'll see the light. Oh, and if you dont know what a Datsun is I suggest you do some research.

Yes, they sure can...in a straight line...which is great...if that's what yer goal is. If I want straight line Thunder I'll get a Mustang GT...and I'll build the ****e out of it...and I'll take any import on for slips. That is not my goal for the Z. It's my daily driver/track car in the making. I've lost to a few Evos/sti's in the straightline...but those same cars couldn't touch me in the twisty's. If you want to talk drifting...well...I'd just pick up an old 240sx and build the poo out of it...it'll tool on em all :P

I hope the OP is not being narrow-minded and only considering performance aspect of a car.
It's all about a combination of looks and performance..unless you want an Evo
Boom on that quote 1000%. Thank you!

If you have x amount of money to spend on mods and you want to make lots of power sure go for an sti or an evo but the general public will still look at it and see a 4 door sedan. If you want a nice well handeling car get a z. Get some wheels exhaust and maybe lower it and you will turn heads wherever you go. Its all about preference i chose the z because of what it was and i havent looked back.

Not trying to start an argument, but have you driven an Evo? They handle/brake really well, as well as being fast cars. Still, they are not for me.

Yes I have. I don't mind them actually, but they still won't take a Z in the twistys or on the track. Of course it's driver dependant. I'm sure a pro driver in an Evo would wail on me on a track...but if it were apple's to apple's . It comes down to A). what you like and B). what you can afford. if the present Evo or STi was available 10 years ago I would have been on it like white on rice (no pun intended). I like the z for alot of reasons...it has some shortcomings which most know, but it's also an amazing drivers car which can be tweaked to orgasmic bliss...and it's really nice to look at.

i love the evo regardless, but not for me, i love the sti, but not for me.

i love the Z ... now that's for me

honesty, an evo and sti may turn heads, but it still won't beat the looks of a Z. it's kinda hard to compare stock NA's to stock turbos. if the Z came with a stock turbo, then all these threads would be different. that easily explains why the evo and sti are 10 grand over the price tag of a Z, so for the money you save on a Z, you can easily make it just as nice as those turbo toys.

Yeah, I just bought a Z. I have friends with evo's and sti's, and quite frankly, no matter how hard I try I see these as warmed over sedens. Ditto with the srt-8 and the like. Nowadays there are plenty of cars faster in a straight line of the show room floor.

I aslo looked at buying porsche (a used low mileage boxer S is in the Z price range) or even a mb slk. However, the Z is the best compromise between performance, styling, and reliability.

i am thinking if a driver took a Evo around the track and then took a Z.. he'd have a better time with the Evo.

P.S. the evo is reallllllly ugly, so i wouldn't get one

Put one on a 1/4 mile with some Roush love and a few other "mommies little helpers" and you have a sick straight line car. It doesn't do so bad on a road course either. I don't particularly like 'em...but they can be fun

i'd go with a GM engineered car. just my personal opinion. There ARE some fast cobras/ roushs. the majority........ SLOW

All depends if he/she is an AWD fan or RWD. Purists like RWD...when Grand Am/ALMSGT/FIAGT all switch over to AWD I may take notice. Until then...you boy's have a run on Rallye...and that's nothing to be upset about.

WTF? Who ever mentioned anything about a Datsun? Yea I know what a Datsun is. Retart? I guess so....oh yea, I love the Z and I never go by what ppl tell me or what they heard. I did my research here first. It's the best way to find out what I need to know. I really don't care what they say but what I care about is how they could just go what someone else says without first hand experience.

Evolution of the man, the world and the driving machine. The bastion by which all turbo ricers are based on.

This thread got me wondering about the Evo vs. Z performance aspect. Yeah, the Evo is cheaper to mod and in pretty much every category can outperform the Z. If so, then why do all these Japanese Touge battles, track battles etc. feature grips of Z's but rarely any Evos? I see the big name companies in Japan (Amemya, Amuse to name a couple) are running Z's more than the mighty Evo if you search YouTube for "Touge Battle".

I asked my girlfriend her thoughts about me getting an Evo, and she bluntly says "oh my god no, that car is ugly", and then I asked her about the Z, and she says "I love that car, I am going to buy one!". I tell her no, because its my car, she can only ride in mine! Z = sex appeal.
