I think 2K for something that could potentially haunt you in the future is horrible.

My father had an accident that didnt catch up to him until 10 years after. He tried to get out of his car and realized he had no control of his legs. It turned out that there was a pinched nerve that was there for so long that his discs started to dry out. He has now had 3 surgeries. He can walk and all, but cant no longer work. If he sits in a certain position he looses mobility.

 

What I am trying to figure out is when someone is tailing you, why not just speed up and move over a lane? Since you had 3 miles to do it, why not?

 

2 grand isnt ****. If you go to court without a lawyer you could get more. Think about it 3 years down the road your back starts hurting again and you have to go see a doc for some x-rays which turn into you having to get an Mri, to surgery or theraphy. You are looking at $20,000 easily. I've been through this and am still living with the pain. I wish I would not of settled(my lawyer lied under oath, so I thought it was better to get all my bills paid for which where over 25K for years of therapy and meds). I now have two herniated(sp) dics and will never be the same again. If I want to have surgery(only thing left for me to do), which I dont. I will have to pay for all this out of my own pocket(and none of this is my fault), and will not get paid for the 2-3 months out of work.

 

I got rear ended last december in '05. I got like 15 grand out of the whole situation. My back still hurts me sometimes, but i have to just go about my daily life. You cant let it slow you down. I used to drive a galant but i used my 15k to put on my Z. I def. still am hurting though. It will never be the same. You should really make sure you get a good lawyer and go after this guy. I went to different doctors until one of them told me that it was b/c of the accident. Just make sure you stay on it. I will take up to a year for your money, but your car will be fixed soon.

I had a someone rear end my car a couple of months ago but not in the z. Anyways, I didn't bother to read every single reply so if im repeating someone else then just ignore my post but according to my incident I called the cops, they came to the accident but they said that they would rather have us exchange info rather than having them fill out a report because it would take too long. *lazy *** cops* but at that time I didn't know much of what to do cause it was my first accident. I had back problems and so I went to the chiropractor and all that bs. But I wanted to sue the guy who hit me but I was told that I couldn't file a lawsuit because there was no police report....damn cops ruined it. So about getting a lawyer....it's gonna be a waste of time and money with no report so I wouldn't bother. Just my 2 cents.

 

It was a 2 lane highway with heavy traffic, there was no way I could speed up any more so therefore I was pretty much without any options.

However, the adjustor showed up at my job and actually, I was paid $2567.

 

That is horrible. $2567 is nothing. You let them off the hook easy. Did you ever talk to a lawyer? I'm guessing not...

Yes, you can. But remember this is not a winning lottery ticket. All the insurance will pay out is reasonable expenses. Start a file folder of every expense you have to pay. Co-pays at the Doctors, any pain killers you have to buy, all that sort of thing. Any days that you have to take off work.

I would highly recommend speaking with a lawyer, all I have listed is what I would call common sense stuff, I am sure that a lawyer would be able to give you a definitive list, especially if there was a chance they might end up representing you.

My wife had a similar experience 11 years ago, and her doctor said not to sign anything for a year, medical settlement-wise. She hurt her wrist (hit the window when the airbag went off) and her back. The pay out was about $10,000.00 in addition to her Toyota Tercel.

And I am guessing the $2500 and change was to pay for repairs?

 

I dunno maybe a lawyer can chime in on this, but I hear if you **** yourself after an accident you can get 10k for public humiliation.

 

I feel better, like nothing ever happened. My car only cost $500 to fix. Plus an alignment. I hardly missed work, did not spend money on any meds. The only thing it caused was uncomfortness for like 1 month. Other than that I feel good now, we'll see in a couple of years though.

 

I hate to see other people go through these things. I know how it goes man. My sister was driving me in my frontier about 2-3 years ago and traffic had came to a stop and she didnt notice till the last second So as she swerved to miss the car in front of us she didnt have enough time and instead swerve so that my passenger side took all the damage. Now heres where the really situation gets into play. im siting there smashed in between the dash and my seat. lucky thing i had my knife with me that i cut through my seatbelt with it to release some tension. Finding out that i had a gash in my arm and i had to climb out through my window to escape the now totaled frontier. that was 3 1/2 years ago. and my backpain is progressivly getting worse. Last thing you want to do is wait to long because in the end you will pay for it:-\

dude.. you are stupid for not calling the cops and file reports. i hope the guy is nice enough to not to dick you over for this. I've seen lot of court regarding this issue with exchanging information... and they never get money because there is no witnesses or proof.

 

All im seeing from this thread is a bunch of bi*ching about his back.. After he specifically said there was barely any damage, meaning low impact.. Cause lets face it its a Z not a tank.

Then the second he gets $2000.. F*ck my backs good.. Lifes dandy.. Woo hoo.. typical BS.. I could never live in the US for this one reason. The BS pulled day in day out with Inusrance Claims.

My coffees too hot, im too dumb, i didn't go to school, i drive too fast but he pulled me over cause im black.. Draw the fu*ckin line already.
