Default Thinking about a Z

Hey all, I've been scoping the forums for a few days, and thought that out of all the 350Z forums, this one seemed the nicest and most knowledgeable on the car. I plan on purchasing a Z this summer, so I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions. I'm more interested in an 06-07, but I would appreciate any kind of feedback.

Welcome. That will give you plenty of time to read and learn. Also you are a member of ECZA correct?

No I am not, and I've been reading up on them for quite awhile, but I have yet to draw a conclusion as to which model is right for me. I plan for it to be a spring-summer car, and I'm not sure how many bells and whistles I'd want on it.

Then come to the next ECZA meet. Myself and other 350Z drivers are more than willing to help.

I didn't even know there was a club just for east coasters. I might be joining up, that sounds like fun.

Do you guys ever find your way to Atlantic City?

I'd suggest going for an '07 because of the new engine. Also, there have been some instances of oil consumption problems with the '06.
Re. what trim, I have a Touring Roadster and don't think I'd want any other model except maybe the Grand Touring. But it all boils down to your budget. The Enthusiast is the most popular.
That my 2 cents worth.

I was thinking about the Grand Touring, for the brembos, but just out of curiosity, does anyone know what the Nismo body accessories look like?

Enthusiast is best bang for buck. All Zs have the same looks/engine/drivetrain so its just a metter of what bells/whistles you want.

What do you think would be optimal for just cruising around in? I have no desire to illegally race it, though I'll easily open it up once it's broken if, if needed to be. Do you guys have any "Must gets" straight from Nissan? I will admit, I like the look of the Nismo Z, but I'm not willing to pay whatever exorbitant amount of money that Nissan will charge for it, so I'm asking, is it possible to get that kit installed from the factory?

Jones, my two cents is the Enthusiast is all you need. But nothing wrong with higher models.

I was on a fairly tight budget so I went with the Enthusiast, but if you've got the money, go for the higher end models. It really all depends on what options you need and which ones you think don't matter. Personally I'd love to have leather and a nav system, but for me they're unnescessary. A limited slip differential on the other hand was absolutely essential. I would not have purchased this car if it had an open differential

if you're going for a bit of luxury you'll enjoy the touring or grand touring... leather heated seats are nice
with the grand touring you'll get the performance plusses too... biggest one being the brembos. whether or not it's worth it is up to you, if you won't be racing but will be driving "enthusiastically" or taking the car on lots of canyon/mountain runs, you might want to consider the brembos or an aftermarket kit.

when you say "nismo body accessories" what exactly do you mean? the graphics kit is a whole different ballpark than a body kit..
