Default Base vs Enthusiast model

I"m looking into getting a 350z and I'm wondering how many people have the base model and how they like it? I know the enthusiast comes with the lsd and I'm a huge autoxer and I know thats a huge benefit. How much different is it and is it worthe th extra 3g? Any info is well appreciated

Its more than LSD. You get TDC & several other goodies. Personally I think the Enthusiast is the best buy of the 5 models.

And isn't the price delta only 2Gs?

I also think the best buy is the enthusiast. Some have complained about the stock lsd though (I must say I'm happy with mine, but I don't autox so....). You could get the base and put a better lsd on, if the TCS and 18's aren't all that important to you, and it would cost less than buying the enthu.

All I really want is the lsd, who makes an lsd for it and how much do they run?

I love my base!Granted the Ent model has the LSD and HID's....but any other model seems pointless.....I mean everyone is Replacing the parts anyway--I got a pretty good deal on my Base and @ the time,..the Ent model was hard to find---so I've got just about everything the Ent model has that I would want--and aftermarket LSD I plan to get down the road---but no rush!

I'd hate to get a TRack model and swap the wheels--and diffrent suspension/Stereo all that---seems pointless once again!

1 pretty good benifit is the BAse is the lightest but once you go modin' it you pick up a few lbs anyway---but its all up to the price and what you plan to do to it!

Simply put, an lsd is a mechanism that transfers power to the wheel that has traction. The Z has a "viscous-type" limited slip, which uses stacked-slotted discs attached at the end of the axle shafts. These discs have a silicon fluid between them. When one wheel begins spinning under acceleration the fluid heats up and expands causing the discs to come together and lock, which thereby tranfers power the wheel with grip. "Viscous-type" lsd's are generally smoother but don't transfer power as well as the "mechanical-type" lsd.

Well I race a Track model twice and I was 1 car ahead, but that was like 5 month ago (less than 2000 miles in my base model)

WEll,.you;ll have to decide for yourself---all depends on what you plan to do to it? Upgrade wheels/lights/Suspension/exterior,.etc

I haven't tracked(Auto X'd or 1/4) mine @ all...the track really isn't good for a car--but I will do a few runs just to see how bad these 19's actually hurt me>...Street wise I can get a almost perfect launch(no wheel spin),..but street and track are 2 different animal;s--as far as auto-x goes...this car is too new and would hate to F*CK it up out there---I'd rather buy a ITR or MR2 to do that w/.
<---first RWD car so not 100% comfortable w/ it right yet although I pratice my Drift skills---Thats all i like to do so I guess I need to get out there and Track it!

Why am I the only one who ever comments on cruise control? The base does not have cruise control, correct? That's what I've always been under the impression of. To me if I was buying one or the other, the enthusiast would pay for itself because of the cruise control. The Z is so smooth you WILL get tickets without cruise control. I use the cruise control everytime I head out, I can't imagine not having it.

For that reason alone I say get enthusiast.

then get a base model ..save yourself some money and add what you want to personalise it.
amoung those that currently make an LSD for it are

Kaaz (Mechanical clutch type)
Cusco (Mechanical clutch type)
Nismo (Mechanical clutch type)

Quaife (soon to come..torsen/worm gear type)

....all better than viscous coupling (which comes stock)

depnding on where you get it plus installation at a reputable shop plan on spending about 800-1500 including instalation

So up to you what you want to do but it makes the car handle and excelerate better out of the turns bar none! I have one

I would go with the Enthusiast just because of the LSD. I cant imagine having a sports car with out it. And besides, how stupid does it look doing a peg leg burnout!
