Track Testing??
I had all intentions of ordering a Z from Japan tonight, however the dealer located one in route to another dealer 300 miles away. I told him I wanted it and then requested that he ensure that the vehicle had less than 5 miles on it, since it is supposed to be brand new and nobody should be testing it, etc. He told me that ALL Zs are tested on a test track in Japan prior to shipment and that most Z's should have anywhere from 10-85 miles on it before it ever hits the States. He then showed me a document that is supposedly from Nissan HQ that backs this up. Could this be true? I am wondering if he is trying to screw me by selling me a demo at full price. I can't call NNA because they're not open after 6 or on Saturday (unless anyone knows a 24 hr. number). Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Mine (manufactured 2/03) was delivered to me with 6 miles on it, of which one mile was my test drive. However, it's possible that some vehicles are driven farther during their testing.
You might try calling Nissan to ask?

After 11 years in the auto business, I have seen cars comeing with 2 miles and have seen cars come in with 30 miles. Either way as long as it is "reasonable" (under 30 miels) you're safe. If the dealer has used it for a "demo" there would be at least 50 or so miles on it. Dealers usually don't put Z's into their Manager demo program either, Mgr's usuallly will drive an Altima, Maxima or Pathfinder. They don't a Z to get damamged or get excessive mileage. Good luck!!!!!!
