Default How does DX work?

I have a dealer that is willing to trade a car on their lot with another dealer for me. The only thing is I have to sign promisory note and down 1000 dollars. It is only refundable if the financing doesn't work out. It won't be refundable if I don't like the way the car drives. Is this the normal way it should work??
Anyone has gone through this process to get the car please let me know.

I wasnt going to have to do any of the above if we had done a dealer exchange, which we were planning to do.

I dont know if this is the same thing, but.....In mid-March what the dealer ended up doing was .... he intercepted a car coming from Japan that was going to go to another dealer. He worked it out so that the car would come to his dealership for me instead of to the other dealer out-of-state. It now has my name on it. (I guess it kinda was a dealer exchange) I havent signed any papers yet. I'm expecting the car next week.

do you know where the car is? Id bring the info to another dealer and see what they say, you know the cars there, so see what they do.

the car needs to drive properly, so if youve driven one Z, you should have driven them all. if the new car doesnt feel the same as the other, then there should be a clause for that, same goes if there is any damage to it.

Thanks Nissan350Z and Ares,

I would think there was an option to get the downpayment back if there was some damage to the car or it doesn't drive right. The dealer stated all the Zs should drive the same. What if something happened between the time they traded the cars. I know dealers do it all the time trading their inventory for anothers but I would think you have an option not to buy it. Also, the sales guy knew I was young and kept calling me Dude. Would you guys buy a car from someone that called you Dude??

Anyone know how much a Z is going for these days?
I was checking carmax.com in MD and they have some weired pricings. A touring SS/Brick gets only 800 off MSRP but a PW gets 2500 off. A auto touring gets almost 2000 off but a manual is less.
Also a track is 2800 off MSRP.

Probably because those are not really selling....esp. PPW. They really want to sell the Touring (overpriced) - usually you will see more of those than any other trim on any given lot.

They post the invoice and with the discounts, it was 600 over invoice. Nissan350z, is that you in the pic? Nice pic. How is the enthusiast model? I a planning to get an enthusiast. I have never driven rear wheel drive and still can't find definite proof on this site if VDC is worth it for performance model.

Yeah that's me...making very good use of my time at work

Anyway... I love my Enthusiast. It made perfect sense to me to choose that trim over the others. I would have gotten the Base, but it didnt have crusie control and hyper-white lights.

I didnt need 18" rims because I knew I was going to upgrade to 19s. The few other bells and whistles, I could have done without, so I did. Even with the track...why pay $37,000 just for 18's and bremos when you (not you, specifically) can get an Enthusiast and add brembos and bigger wheens and tires for much cheaper? doesnt make sense to me.

Anyway..my car handles fine without VDC...ive pushed it, and it's cool.

Good luck.

Yes, if I could do it over, I would get an enthusiast and buy the brembos off of someone. However, I had no idea as many G35c owners would sell their brembos as there have been. On the brite side, I sold my Track Rays for the same $$$ my iforged 19s cost!
