Fairlady badges on a Z are stupid IMO. this has always been a pet peeve of mine for some reason. all the conversions, aftermarket parts and JDM stuff will never make your Z a Fairlady, as it did not come from the factory like that.
same goes for guys with 240s (Silvia), BMWs (people love to slap M stickers on their cars) and Honda guys who stick the H badge on their RSXs and Integras.
LAME! it's your car, do whatever you want, but i laugh at them all the time. LOL @ LHD Silvias!

The name has quite a bit of heritage behind it, and there is nothing wrong with using the fairladyZ badge at all.

and there is also quite a bit of heritage behind the "number+Z" badge. 240Z, 300ZX, etc. people just want to be overly JDM for some reason, i don't think i will ever understand that. JDM does not equal cool to me. last time i checked, the window sticker from when i bought my car said "350Z". *shrugs*

wtf? who drives a Z and thinks JDM parts, etc is not cool? well all your mods are by american companies it looks like other than nismo, did you get confused and go to the wrong dealership? you could probably still take it back and get a ford or chevy

bottom line is some parts, regardless of where they originated from, look stupid......at least to me, which is the fun part about customizing your car, you do it for you. i am not trying to push my style on anyone, but Fairlady emblems on a 350Z look stupid since the car is NOT a Fairlady.
i am sorry that you feel only Jap parts are any good.

edit - i believe my TWM shift **** is Canadian. so can i keep my Z?

Actually, aside from the steering column, and some minor ecu differences, the cars are identical in every way between US and Japan spec models. There is no difference in any other aspect of the car, from a safety or performance standpoint. So, one could make the argument that the biggest difference between the cars aside from what side of the car you drive on, is the badge on the back. It's not a case where the car is offered in one "spec" in one country and another spec in another. The car is a Fairlady, just as a TSX is an Accord, just as an RSX is an Integra. Why that offends you so, is anyone's guess.
This thread should have focused on mods that offer the user no benefit - those that represent a recipe for poor performance. If someone wants to put a Fairlady Z badge on their car, who the hell cares? It might not be what YOU would do, but it is by no means "rice" (which you stronly elude to in your posts)
You said it yourself...customizing a car is about what YOU want. You should have put the period there.

so in keeping with the theme of the thread, i stated i think having a badge on your car stating that is something it is not (since there IS a difference, no matter how minute) is ricey. i am so sorry this offends people so much. people don't like my rims, they voiced their opinions and i am over it. why can't you guys get over the fact that i don't like Fairlady emblems on a 350Z?

Exactly. Rice it is NOT!
However not to belabor the point, but interestingly enough, many 350Zs sold in Japan typically receive the exact opposite treatment by Japanese enthusiasts. By that, I'm saying many owners opt to display the '350Z' label on the back of the hatch lid rather than the Fairlady Z label.
There again, it's ...customizing a car is about what YOU want.
Personally, I would not add the latter and will just leave my OEM 350Z label as is.

On my own car, I took the rear Z badge off completely
Though I did replace it with a NISMO one, because I liked how it looked better (I guess I'm a ricer)
