Thank you.
the only way is to see your local dealer and test it on the twisties... it's impossible for us to tell you if it's fun since fun is such a subjective term..

in my opinion, the steptronic system is not bad at higher speeds but tends to lag a little in between shifts on lower speeds..

perhaps you can compare the tiptronic/steptronic or whatever fancy names they call them these days on other cars...compare that with the z and you will get your answer

i think theres that much of a difference between auto and manual, usually few tenths of a second. if your a noob at manual like me, you'll probably end up being slower than an auto.

If your wife has her own car, get the MT in yours; end of discussion.

Auto is good for drag racing 6mt is good for the twisties. IMHO you get a better feel for the car with a 6mt and its just so much more fun to drive. I test drove the 5at and it felt souless not how a sports car should be. just my 2 cents

(ive driven both)....in my opinion getting an automatic is pointless, the z is a performance car and a ****in blast to drive, auto just isnt the same... stick can be kind of a pain in the *** in traffic (i sit in over an hour each day) but i still wouldnt even consider switchin over

MT driver's shouldn't drag race any then. Since all true drag race vehicles (top fuelers) are AT's. Following the same logic trail you layed out.

Are you going to share the car? Perhaps a Z isn't for you then. I see my Z as a toy, why compromise? Theres no fun in that at all.

My wife can't drive a manual either (I offered to teach her on several occasions but she sees no need for it), and wanted me to get an AT so she could drive it sometimes. I did not compromise and got a MT.

I consider it a bonus because I don't have to share my toy with her, reducing potential risk of unnecessary scrapes and dents. This also eliminates the need to argue about who gets to drive it.

Poe: Will you walk with me, Grasshopper?
Young KCC: Yes, Master. Master? The man to whom you spoke, Lee-You? Is he a confused one?
Poe: What is your view?
Young KCC: He is a beggar, like the rest. I can see he is greatly in need of food. But he does not eat.
Poe: He seeks to satisfy a stronger hunger.
Young KCC: He values what is worthless. (Broken pieces of pottery, which Lee-You uses to decorate a monument he is making for a public area)
Poe: To you, to me, perhaps. Not worthless to him.
Young KCC: Bits and pieces that cannot be put back together.
Poe: Not to understand a man’s purpose does not make him confused.

I bought my car not knowing I would be getting a free beater to drive (planned on driving the Z 120miles+ per day)

If I could go back I would go with MT. But it's alright, in about 4 years I'm planning on getting a high-end sports car like a GT-R or a porsche so that's when I'll switch back to MT. By then the Z will be a daily driver so AT for the Z is ok.

I have also been looking into MT swap and seeing how much altogether. If it's around 2k I'll probly do it.

Well of course. I never dissed that. You just have to spend a little more money to make sure it doesn't go out on you.

And referring to the track comment -- I go to the drag strip all the time. I do beat those with manual transmissions and driver error.
