This reminds me of an article where they tested a 2007 G35 Sedan vs. a 2007 330i BMW. The G35 had a ton of power more, out-performed it in every category and not to mention cost thousands less. Yet the writers handed the trophy to the Bimmer. Go figure.

Personally, I'd like to see a Trecel in this testing and watch it come in first too.

The RX-8 is nice ... but it's not a competitor as a 350Z. In no way shape or form. It's better at picking up grocerys, but a 350Z is a driver's car. We don't buy the Z for any other reason other than pushing the pedal down and watching cars out our rear view mirror ... well -- at least those in our price range.

Nothing matches the exhaust note, and interior concept. I love the 350Z's interior, besides the glove box. Digital gauges and a instrument cluster to die for. In comparison, I think the Z's interior is one of the best I've seen. I almost bought the car because of the interior, even if it isn't made of the best materials. It lets you know you're driving a sports car.

Annnddd ... our exterior lets everyone know you got taste. :]

+1 to furiousZ

I actually liked the interior when i went for a test drive. Everything was where its supposed to be. And i loved the moving gauge cluster.

First place or not, I considered all the new cars at the time (late '05) and decided to go with the Z. I haven't regretted it. To hell with the magazines.

I figure they need to help Audi sell TT's which, if memory serves, is on the cover?

This month they have a cover article on "20 cars worth waiting for" and included the 08 GT-R

i'm with you guys regarding the Z's interior. i like the simplicity of the door panel design whereas a lot of people actually dislike. The Z's door panel is similar to a Lambo Murcielago if nissan had wrapped the panel with highend leather imo.

They definitely pulled it outa their asses. The article was from last September, so i don't remember all of it but it was something about how the bimmer felt more "composed" or "smooth" in its handling. Which i can understand can be considered better handling. But what about all the rest of the performance aspects? BS.

i think they mentioned considering the overall package(bimmer of course).

I used to have subscriptions to motortrend, car & driver, and road & track. As they finished off i did not renew. I would only buy newstand issues that i liked. Eventually i just stopped buying and would just read them in teh store.

I refuse to give any more money to them. They're filled with biased bs from cover to cover. Nit-picking writers too.

"trunk is too small"
"cheap interior"
"door doesn't make a nice noise when you close it"

Interesting. From the write-ups, one wouldn't guess that the RX8 would be first.

The method of scoring was quite interesting also. Comparing performance cars and deducting for size and also comfort of back seat? How can they deduct for comfort of a back seat when there isn't one? They complained about the bad fuel economy and short range of the Mazda, but they didn't bother scoring for those traits. They deducted points for the Z for lack of amenities as they used the Base model while equipping the others with $thousands in options.

I guess my point is that you can probably have any car win based on what you want to score for and what weight you put on certain categories. I think these subjectively rated comparisons are nearing the credibility of professional wrestling. It wouldn't have mattered if the Z came out 1st or last once credibility is gone. The non-rated statistical comparisons are interesting though.

friend of mine sold his special order touring(burnt orange leather seats) with less than 3k miles on it in 03 for 27K$ taking a 7k$ hit. His complain was "trunk too small"..."cheap interior" and he didn't like the A pillar.

Yes, we all know how Ford has many reliability issues. But that's not what I originally planned on talking about.

If you really think a bigger liter engine with more pistons is suppose to show more hp, then your wrong.

You make it seem as if that engine is worthless. You as a previous GT owner, im sure you know how great they respond to mods; atleast compared to our cars.

Don't get me wrong; im not here to defend or support. I think the Z should have won first place.

I love our VQ's for what they are. By far, I believe its the best naturally aspirated V6 within its competitors.

But just to let you know, more cylinders & engine displacement does not necesarily mean its going to show more HP. It can benefit in other areas besides hp & tq.

PS. Since we are talking about the 05+ Mustang GT (320 TQ), it actually has 52 lb of torque than the 07 Z (268 TQ) and 60 TQ more than the 03-06 Z (260 TQ).
