yikes... look like by May they would fill their 30,000 initial quota? Is that when they're switching over for the 2004?

Default great!

I think its great for Nissan, great for us (because its great for aftermarket companies which = more options for us), and good for the car industry in general.

It amazing how awesome a car you can buy for a decent price nowadays and the selection of awesome cars to choose from.

Night and day when compared to 1990.

But just remember, 30,000 in perspective,,

it doesnt mean they're going to be everywhere.. The Altima sold 200,000 last year. I see a lot of those,, but not more than a few a day....

It is actually closer to 24,000 because there are two production lines. One with side airbags and one without. This is indicated by a 1 or 0 in front of your production number.

One of the dealers I spoke with in the area in early April said they were just starting to get an increase in their allocation of Z cars.

30,000 may sound/seem like a lot but for a little perspective:

Honda sells 30,000+ Accords a month
Ford sells 30,000+ Taurus a month and
Toyota sells 30,000+ Camrys a month

Yes, but Honda only sells about 10,000 S2000s a year.

I had a 1993 MR2 (2nd generation 1991-1995) and I very rarely saw another one around. After I sold it I looked up the production numbers and found that they only imported 15,705 2nd gen MR2 to US and Canada. That is a low number.

Kind of useless information but I thought it was kind of neat.

Because they are way more noticable than an Accord! Plus, you have one which makes it that much more defeating every time you do (at least for me).

Post car sales

Since we're on the subject of car sales. Depending on where you live and work, you can get a VERY skewed perception of what's popular and what's not. At my work, there are lots of Audis, and BMWs along w/lots of Japanese cars and few American cars.

Here are some random companies followed by their US April new car sales:
BMW http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/030501/nyth151_1.html 24,131
Ford http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/030501/deth022_1.html 298,037
Toyota http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/030501/lath065_1.html 151,784
Honda http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/030501/lath071_1.html 117,783
Audi http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/030501/deth038_1.html 7,209
VW http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/030501/deth037_1.html 25,412
GM http://biz.yahoo.com/cnw/030501/mi_gm_sales_1.html 400,687
Nissan http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/030501/15492_1.html 60,940
Subaru http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/030501/phth076_1.html 14,526
Mitsu http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/030501/lath111_1.html 24,762

The best way to find monthy sales stats I've found is to go to http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/
and type in [name of maker] sales and look for a press release from
the maker that usually has [name of maker]… reports… sales in the title.

For me, it's hard to gauge whether one would consider a car to be a "good seller". Nissan sold 3479 Zs last month, yet Chevy sold 24487 POS Impalas in the same period.
