Yeah, it's just the cat doing its job. When you redline often, your creating more deposits in your exhaust which forces the CAT to do a much larger job simultaneously. That smell is always there, really, you're just not close enough to smell it. When you can smell it easily (inside your car, for instance), that means you had a lot of deposits that were converted that moment.

If it happens once or twice a month, it's fine. But if it's happening ALL the time, then that's not good.

yeah, everytime I drive it hard, it has this funny smell. I dont think it's the cat either, because it seems clean. I think somebody needs sum vagisil lol

Its casued by the fuel you are using. Try switching to a different gas station that offers low-sulfer gas.

Yup my friends Tc and other car smell at redlines, its the smell of sulfur (rotten egg smell).

And as was said earlier gas can make a difference, my friend uses AMPM and I put that cheap crap in my other car, and those vehicles smell at redline. Never had smell in my Z, I use Chevron in that.
