Default One incredibly modded Z- talk me into it!

OK so I am about 90% sure I want to get this car but due to a bunch of missed debt payments by my soon to be ex wife, my credit plummeted over the last 5 months I've been out of the house and the interest rate I'm getting on it really sucks. I'm going to be looking at a $557 a month car payment and I'm choking on the idea of that. Thing is, this car is the most incredibly well kept, perfectly modded Z I've seen in a long time and at the sellnig price, I'm really struggling with my practical side...Here are the specs...

The car has been garaged about 90% of it's life and the body is in excellent condition. All work has been performed by SGP Racing in Houston, TX and the car runs smoothly and extremely strong. Currently it has about 500hp/470tq to the rear wheels and given the modifications, a lot more can be achieved safely with more boost (right now it's around 12psi).

F: 19x9.5 R: 19x10.5

BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2

It's also got a top of the line alpine head unit with JL Audio/boston acoustics speakers, JL Audio Amp. This thing is absolutely sick....thoughts?

Looks clean. I would say it is a pretty nice deal with all the mods it already has.

Here's a link to the album on it:

And here's the email I got back from Mark Gust, the president of SGP racing when I asked about the car:

Kent,

****'s vehicle is one of the best kept, best built, vehicles there is. The vehicle is put together with the very best parts, best engine management & fueling system available. The shortblock has the best pieces available as well. Add a few things & the power just goes up from there. The vehicle is a a perfect daily driven car @ 500 RWHP + if wanted. I thought about purchasing the vehicle myself but, I have 3 already.. LOL.... If that is what you are looking for I would jump on it...

Mark Gust

President

One thing I was considering if I get the car is to switch the wheels out. The current wheels are nice but I wanted something a little flashier and lighter in color so they stand out... Any ideas? I'd also like to get a spoiler- possible a NISMO style....

Any vehicle with forced-induction is a risk. The motor might be good for another 50,000 miles. It might self-destruct tomorrow.

Roll the dice and take your chances.

Yeah- I have to agree with you there. Thing is, I could supercharge my BMW 330Ci and have a fun, reliable daily driver with 300RWHP for around 5K. That's why I'm really teetering with this....

That car looks really nice. I must agree with the induction part though. It wouldn't work for me, I'm too pou' to afford multiple vehicles, aside from my wife's.

I see it this way. The engine was built for high boost with internals, etc. You should not have a problem with that car. Now if you boosted your BMW that wasn't designed for Boost, then you will most likely have problems.

If it was me, I would get the Z.

Talking about forced induction being unreliable... it's all relative to the tuning. I understand the Z's engine is high compression and boost can destroy it easily. A Toyota Celica's engine is even higher psi. On my old forum NewCelica.org there's a tuner who is running a significant amount of boost on stock internals that companies would never even think of using. Usually a boosted Celica is around 250whp. This guy's is around 400whp. It's somewhere around 16psi or something when the max the engine SHOULD take is around 7-8. He has been driving this car for quite a long time now with no problems whatsoever. It took him a long time with the tuning, but it payed off.
This was pretty much just for comparison reasons. I'm just trying to say, if the shop is good and they're good with tuning cars... The TT system should be reliable for quite a while. If they weren't... like the guy said a while before me, it could self destruct.
It's all in the tuning.

Very true about the tuning once you have all the right internals plus with a good tune. You should be ok but there is always that chance now i want u to get this car its a beauty plus it looks so stealth. But question is with your payments being so high due to bad credit because of your ex if something ****s up with the car because of the high boost or something else. Will you have the money you need to get it repaired or are you gonna be stuck leaving it in the garage staring at it.Other than that i hope you get it and everything works out that Z is badass..

buy a brand new one and F.I. it yourself.... theres a reason that the car is being sold for that price... the seller wants to get out while he can... i think it would be dumb to pay 560 a month for a used car that might break down as soon as u rump on it...

considering I'm dropping $24Gs + at SGP for a fully built twin turbo setup.....this car is a steal...you get all the parts and labor....with a free car...if you will.

My motor is a little crazier build than this one, but forged internals are forged internals.

instead of assuming something's wrong with the car (SGP builds some bada$$ rides), why didn't you suggest calling the shop on the history of the car. I'm sure they'd be willing to tell him any hick-ups that sprung up along the way.....and EVERYONE gets hick-ups when building cars like this.
