Sad, really sad. My best wishes to his family. These are the things I take away from this:

-If Kevin had kids, I can't help but think how sad it will be for them to grow up without their father.

-If the other car was an orange Charger, it shouldn't be too hard to spot (even in FL).

-I guess you can't escape the fact that this adds to the other examples of what street racing can do. I hope others think twice when the temptation arises.

Very sad to know that a seatbelt could have saved his life. Sorry to hear about this.

I did some research on the Lakeland Floral shops and it looks like we will be spending roughly $200 on the arrangement. Again, whatever is left will be given to Kevin's mom to hopefully help them with the costs of the funeral. If anyone wants to pitch in, I can take them up to Friday morning to the paypal address supplied. Every little bit helps.

Thank you! I think what I may do too is give the list of names and addresses of the donations to his mother. I think it would be nice. Give her the chance to say thank you if she wants to. I also have a trophy that Kevin won at a car show and he walked over to me and gave it to me. I asked him why is he doing this since I also got one and he said "Because Gina, you deserve another one. I really like your car. You have done a great job on it." I would like to bring that to his mother as well and tell her he won it and deserved it. It is a Best of Show Trophy. I believe this is something she may want to keep.

BTW,..We have 13 donations so far.

you need to tell this story at his funeral. his mother expressed that she wanted us to tell stories about kevin, and i quote "the silly jokes he always told".

this is such a gross loss.

Default Donation for Kevin

I could explain all the reasons from a legal standpoint as to why the guy in the charger should have gone back, but I'm sure he was scared. The only thing I can say is maybe just maybe if he would of went back he might have been able to do something if Kevin was still alive.I don't know if Kevin died instantly
but unfortunately there's nothing that can be done now.....so leave it alone!!

coachk has a great point. there is nothing we can do now. can we please NOT turn this into a discussion about how YOU feel? his family is looking at these threads. i am just a friend, and it pokes at me when these sort of question/comments get posted. this guy is gone, we will never hang out with him again, we will never get is corny voice mail messeges, we cant call him . . . please stop making this in to a thread to argue sides. thank you.

I agree. This is a thread about donations to help his family. If you don't want to donate than go to that other rediculous thread about whether he deserved sympathy or not and not being fair that the teen driver didn't get as much attention. It has been mentioned more than a few times that his loved ones, including his mother, are reading these threads and some people are cold hearted enough to keep bashing a deceased man that many people on here cared about, just to get your point across. Unbelieveable how disrespectful some people can be. If a loved one of yours commited suicide, are you going to sit back and say "Well, I don't feel bad since they did it to themselves." Does it really change how you would feel, no matter how they left? Point is they are gone and ppl are in pain and to read such cold hearted comments does not make it any easier. I really am embarrassed for his mother to come and read these threads because some of you just won't stop out of RESPECT.

Donations are still coming in and I want to thank everyone that has pitched in so far. We will be accepting donations until Friday morning. I make one last check around 9am before I head out to meet for the funeral. Whatever the final amount is, I will write a check for his family and present it to them on Friday.

Paypal address again is oceanrayz@verizon.net
