interesting thoughts by a seasoned Z collector
my parents have some freinds, and 2 of them are about 55yo or so, and they both are avid collectors of Z's and jaguars. one of them has restored around 10 cars to full perfect condition. including Zs.
for reference one of them drove here today in the last model of 12cylinder jaguar.
anyway, they were both very excited to check out the new Z. so one pops into the car and says "wow this is like driving the old 240, so many similarities, they kept it so simple" the other got in and said the same. they both loved how much they returned to the roots. they were also loving the exterior styling.
also had a high up for saab take a peek at it, he loved it too.
Ive heard that nissan had the retro styling for the Z, but I dont think my parents even knew each other when the first Z came out. so I never knew if it really was true to the heritage. but it would seem it is.
anyway, thats all there is, just thought Id share.
the saab guy also gave me some tips on how to get better at racing, he said that mazda school is great, as is autocrossing, but his key rule was to never take your primary form of transportation onto a race track. no road atlanta racing for me.
his friend from europe went to andrettis tho and took a go cart for a spin, he set the highest lap record theyve ever had. its stuck for 2 years now. I wanna get some pointers from that guy.
