I'm not worried about how "rare" the color is.........I worry about enjoying my car to the fullest. Having a black car detracts from that experience, like it or not.

Your sarcastic comment about the Vette shows your ignorance. I've pre-ordered a 350Z as well, and I look forward to driving it. I enjoy all sports cars for what they offer.

I'm sorry I said anything about the problem of maintaining the paint of a black car. I hope your black Z paint is thicker than your skin.

Ok I was just kidding about you pissing on our parade! As I said in my prior post, I do agree with you that maintaining a black paint is a pain. However, besides aesthetics, there are other advantages about a black sports car. Black sports car are more stealth in comparison with flashy colour cars, which in turn reduces the possibility of being spotted by coppers and getting speeding tickets. I like to enjoy a sports car for the fun of speeding sometimes, and the less a car is visible to the eyes of coppers, the more I can enjoy those occasional speed bursts.

I have to agree with zztopp about the color. I think that the black look stellar but man, is it ever a ***** to keep clean! When clean though, it looks hot! I own a black Pathfinder right now and it drives me nuts. The swirls in direct sunlight and the amount of time required to keep it clean are reasons that I won't buy another car in black.

One sneaky thing about a silver car (I ordered Silverstone) is that you can clean the wheels and put some gloss on the tires and the thing looks clean! Its cheating I know but it works when you gotta run!

I have had two black cars in a row and while it is a little harder, it's not the night and day difference people here are talking about! I have had a black MR2 Spyder with red interior for the past 2 years and here is how I keep it perfect even though it is not garaged (garage is full of racecars). There are a number of great products out there including Meguires, Zaino, etc, but I prefer Griots products. Believe it or not I only wash the car about every 6 weeks. After every washing I put on a coat of Griots best in show wax. Every day I dust the car with a California duster. Here is what really keeps the car perfect, twice a week I wipe the car down with Griots Speed Shine spray detailer. Takes less than 20 minutes and looks perfect!! As a matter of fact I also use this same schedule in my Silver I35 so the reality is a black car doesn't take any more time to take car of.

raceboy, your experience in dry, perfect 85 degree cali is different than the rest of the world. I have to wash my wife's black car every 2 weeks just to keep it reasonably clean. It rains 5 times a week in the summer here in NC. It can't imagine taking care of a black car in the snow up north...

It's not always 85 degrees here; sometimes it actually dips into the 70's! LOL Yeah, in a rainy climate I could see how a car would be much harder to take care of, especially black.

Try living in Vancouver, Canada. I swear it only rains once you've finished washing your car!

Yeah, I bought my first house a few years ago and am very eager to put the z in the garage. I figure keeping it there will be half the battle towards keeping it clean. Raceboy, what other racecars do you own?
