I see an old datsun when I look at the lines on the hood, so it doesn't bother me, in fact I actually like the hood.
My guess is most people who don't like the new hood design, never owned or liked the old Datsun Z's. I could be wrong though....

03-06 hood has some nice simple lines to break it up.

The 07 hoods still haven't grown on me. The hump in the hood looks right on the 240zx, it's more subtle and matches the lines better IMO. The hump on the 350 doesn't really flow well for me and looks clumsy, I like the sleek look of the 03-06 more.
