Default Fixed trunk size by removing spare wheel.

I've been bugged by the trunk size for a while - yesterday I fixed it by removing spare wheel jack etc. I'm probably going to get flamed on this - but in 18 years of driving I've never had a flat - I will carry one of those instant tyre repair cans in its place. I've got a trimmer to make up a carpet to line it all so it looks good. Makes a hell of a difference to the space - we can go on short trips and get a reasonable amount of luggage in it now.

I'm never that far from civilisation so if the worst comes to the worst I will be able to get it repaired anyway should I need it.

Do you have the tire pressure sensors? If you do, you shouldn't ever use the instant tire repair stuff. It will damage the sensors.

No not on mine - I think the canister is more for a security blanket than anything. i probably wont use it.

I don't know about the Z, but in several other makes that I know of, the spare is utilized for maintaining structural integrity in rear end collisions.

Just some food for thought.

lol, no kidding. I ran over a boot, and a tin gas can in the first 2 weeks of having my Z!! 2 rock chips in my windshield in the first 3 weeks!! I had never had a rock chip on a windshield of any car I have owned, and had only run over something on the road maybe once in 10 years.

I got scoffed at for talking about removing my spare. I have never had a flat either. I was thinking about removing the spare when I need some space recently. I'm going to have to see how much more usable space it provides and think about that.
