Default Gas mileage...

Hey guys...so I just got my Z (5AT, 28K) a few weeks ago..and have been averaging ~13 mpg based on my own calculations (on the gauge it's 12.5 mpg and ~14 mi avg) in city / highway driving (~50 / 50). No mods, No lead foot but ~2mile commute to and from work with 3-4 stops and some of it highway. Takes me about 5-10 minutes to get there and about the same to get back. I do have it on climate control all the time, but after reading a few posts, this should not really be such a huge issue. I did average ~23mpg when driving mostly highway right after purchasing the car. Am not devastated, just a bit disappointed as I was expecting atleast 15 or 16mpg. Before you flame, I am not b*tching! I realize this is part of the cost of ownership. Just tryin to figure out if this type of fuel consumption is out of the norm....what type of mileage do you guys get? I have seen claims of 19+ city driving?

I usually get about 19 in the city on my 2005 (6 MT, 23K)..lol I'm 18, so you know I have a lead foot. I have gotten up to 29.1 on the highway cruising at about 75 mph. But I average about 28.5 on the highway.

19 in the city, 25 - 26 on the highway, in a roadster. Top down 80% of the time, at least.

Reset your trip computer when you fill up. It will show your average miles/hour below the estimated gas mileage. It accounts for the time sitting in traffic.

Most Zs reach their best mileage at just under 60mph.
I'm still getting 23 mpg for my worst type of driving, which is when my average mph on the trip meter for that tank is around 38mph. I'm not in a city very much.

Sounds like I might need to have the dealer take a look (under warranty).... since my manual calculations are fairly similar to the guage displays. You guys seem to be getting 16..At the WORST that I have seen. Funny part is that I don't even sit in traffic...MAX 6 or 7 lights on an average day and am very rarely in bad traffic.

I sit in some of the worst traffic in the USA and I get 21.8mpg. When I take my baby on road trips I average 30.2mpg(and these are by my calculations, number of miles driven / gallons filled up with). Please take it in for service, something is wrong with her.

---edit---- I break triple digits on a daily basis.

Yep, this doesn't sound right. I'm a gas mileage hunter most of the time. I get over 25mpg in the city and over 29 on the open road. I drive like I have an egg under the pedal. The worst mileage I've ever seen in my Z is 22mpg and that was with some pretty aggressive mountain driving.... some sliding going on ...

I have a Pop Charger but, I know it isn't making very much difference.

I run my tires at 35psi all the way around. I didn't see any difference going from Stock 17's to Stock '06 18's.

Your using premium right? If not, you will burn more gas and the car is not meant to run on it except for a very short time .... easily.
