Default My Z at Watkins Glen....

Took my 350Z to Watkins Glen last Sunday for Opening Day. For $15 they let you take 3 "paced" laps around the track. About 25 Zs of all vintages from my club took the trip. 240s, 280s, Z31s, Twin Turbos and a couple 350Zs. The Glen staff was very nice about letting us have a bit of fun on the track. Nothing crazy, but we did get to wring 'em out a bit. My impressions:

The car STICKS. Absolutely on rails. It eats up the "esses" with ease. The first generation Zs could not hang with me in the curves. A 280ZX in front of me had its rear hanging out all over and the 350 simply went where it is pointed, and very quickly at that. The engine revs freely and loves the 4800 to 6000 band. Braking was not an issue, the car was totally controllable at all times.

So, the 350Z inspires confidence like no other Z I have driven. If any of you get a chance to get it on a track, or to an autocross, give it a try. You will see a side to this car that will have you grinning from ear to ear!

Z on!

Hey man - I so wanted to be there on Sunday but I got back from Europe late Sat night and was wiped out the next day. Sounds like a great day. I’m going to hook up with you guys at the ZCCR at the next opportunity. PM with some details of your next meet. BTW – any pics ?

Cheers.

We got into the upper 80s in a couple spots. IT was all about the handling though!
