Their main focus really is lightening the car as much as possible. Their brakes aren't even that much better than stock, they are only lighter. A company that aims to save ounces of weight by going as far producing lighter radiator brackets. They use FACTORY airboxes with replacement panel filters. Hell, their legendary SW388 wheel is a repainted Regamaster Evo. Spoon is a chassis tuning company as far as I am concerned. TypeOne their sister company is not much different.

Nismo on the other hand builds cars like the Z-tune GTR and 380RS Z which offer DRAMATIC improvements over their stock counter parts. I am not talking about the Nismo badged AEM intake you buy at your local dealer. I am talking about the hardcore Nismo parts offered in Japan.

So before you come on this forum making assumptions do your research.

Nismo:Nissan
Mugen:Honda (not Spoon)
TRD:Toyota
MazdaSpeed:Mazda
fanboy im not, i didnt mean they do insane upgrades but more that they use their own product, the problem here is less of being a spoon fanboy and more that i honestly underestimated nismo. this is why i made this thread...didnt know too much about nissan's aftermarket offerings and where they stand.

spoon uses stock airbox but also uses ducting down to the bumper to make it cold air.

yah.. spoon's own specialty engineered cold air induction... i bet i took them a long time to engineer that I should have bought a dc2.. the factory support for performance at honda is way ahead of the game.

Nissan doesn't have any like spoon and mugen (which went bankrupt lol). We do have Nismo, which is Nissan's in house performance company. Honda doesn't have one. There aren't any companies that I'm aware of that are super well known that specialize in only Nissans, and that have strict policies on how they mod their cars.

Nismo is Nissan's own company. Both Mugen and spoon are owned independently.

Mugen is owned by the son of the founder of Honda. They do work with each other on the assembly lines for certain vehicles. Most of the Mugen parts are added on afterwards though.

Going back to the topic, I think that Jim Wolf Technologies is a pretty solid company that makes a lot of Z-parts and after talking to a few Nissan engineers, they were impressed by the R&D compared to nismo. But Nismos ia definitely Nissan's Mugen.

The ownership of Mugen has changed within the last year or two. They went bankrupt and the company was sold. Just because the son of the founder of Honda owns or owned Mugen, doesn't mean it is anywhere close to Nissan's OWNERSHIP of NISMO. If you look at both companies, there is a stark difference. Both Mugen and Spoon are independent companies, reguardless of the personal relationships between the companies.

I'm just saying Nismo is like Mugan. They're both respectively Nissan and Honda's factory racing division.
Maybe the way I typed it was kinda confusing lol
