I hear that they can turn off your alarm in 5 seconds. Replace your ECU with the one they bring and start your car. Your car can be gone in 1 minute.

OP - You don't have a Z anymore. What do are you doing still posting in this forum?

just hope that by now, your car is lying in some body shop in a million different pieces ready to be put on the black market. getting ur car back will only add to the trouble.

I am really sorry for your loss. Similar to AZ, it's either across the border or in a chop shop. Or both I guess. I hope you never see it again. I can't imagine what I would do if someone stole my Z. Sounds like someone put it on a flat bed.

The stock alarm is only desinged ot go off if any of the three doors are opened. If the glass is broken, the car will remain silent and the kill switch will not engage. The 'alarm' is only designed to not let the car move under its own power.

Chances are they towed the car by the rear wheels which is why I often park backwards with the rear facing a wall or something.

if you find the guy, push for the death penalty... 2nd degree murder of a new born (just leave out the part about it being a Z).

Sorry about the loss. Between now and a new car, your insurance may give you a loaner.

Thanks for the condolences. A whole month to wait! Not looking forward to this.

The cops said it was likely either flatbedded or they had electronic keys? They thought it was a rare car to be stolen easily, so it was likely pros who wanted that specific vehicle. I think I will not see her again.

I'm in LA in a nice neighboorhood off of Wilshire. Low crime area.

If I get a new one, I'm gonna go for the lowjack, an aftermarket 2 way alarm, and a club.

No broken glass on the ground or anything. No alarm sounded. Just gone without a trace. This is a big bummer.

Anyone know how long insurance companies wait before they determine it lost? Though I'm hopeful, I figure I'm not getting this one back. A bigger hassle would probably be to get it back trashed.

Hey sorry about your loss dude.

1. Where do you live in socal if you don't mind me asking
2. Insurance will wait around 10-15 working days to determine if it is a complete loss. Usually they'll pay you in about 4-6 weeks. The fact that they know it WILL BE A TOTAL LOSS is the bummer they should give the money to you right away. If they do find it, the car will be stripped anyways.
3. Who is your insurance carrier?
4. Sorry to inform you guys that Z is a target for alot of thiefs in socal. The other day my buddy went to class (USC) came back to the lot, saw some hispanic dude sitting in his car. He was like WTF? the dude was like, "Oh sorry, I didn't know this was your car" anyways the cut the long story short, he boned out and my buddy couldn't restrain both him and accomplice.

Wow, that's just a bummer. I am sorry for your loss. Like the others, I hope you don't find the car and get through this asap.

you would have to bring your own key ignition and swap it out to pull that off...

It vibrates when your car is being opened, touched, glass tampered with, ect. (depending how many features are attached to the alarm).

Sorry for the loss. I know how it is, my first car was stolen (it was just a civic but I loved that car). Hopefully karma is real so they get it back three times as bad.
