Default My Z was stolen today

My new 2007 SB was stolen last night. I had had such luck in recent years with cars that I did not get the LoJack when I bought it just 4 months ago, was not using a Club or anything, and it was taken from my house where it was street parked. No broken glass on the ground or anything. No alarm sounded. Just gone without a trace. This is a big bummer.

Anyone know how long insurance companies wait before they determine it lost? Though I'm hopeful, I figure I'm not getting this one back. A bigger hassle would probably be to get it back trashed.

Sorry to hear. Insurance companies usually wait about a month before they declare the car a loss. It might vary though. I hope you get it back unmolested.

It sucks, but I honestly hope for your sake they never find it. I had one car stolen that they found, and it was the biggest pain in the azz of my life to deal with.

Sorry to hear about your loss. 30 days to investigate and possibly retrive the car.

insurance will take awhile. that's the only thing i hate about a stolen car when you are paying for it. first, they have to see if it comes up from being missing. Then if it doesn't after a month, they start investigating.

Sorry to hear that. My previous car was stolen too.
How long before the insurance company writes it off varies by company, but for mine it was as fast as we could finish the paperwork (typically 30 days for all the beureaucracy and stalling).

Make a police report and file a claim immediately, then go through the paperwork process as fast as you can. When I was in your position, I didn't really want to get it back either.

yeah, it is pretty crazy. You can make a good amount of money off of a z as well. Headlights, tail lights, seats, console, dash, etc just to name a few.

How do they steal the Z so esaily? Without having the alarm going off. How do they start it to drive it away? It is really sad because this is like the 5 thread about a z getting stolen.

well, it's kinda risky selling complete motors because of the vin number. They will take some parts out of the engine though. Usually they will find teh chassis of the car in some remote place or business(after the car is stripped).

usually stock alarms are from the horns of the car. Cut the wires of the horn and it won't make a sound. Out horns are easily located in the front.

Sorry to inform you guys. The factory alarm doesn't do squat. 90% of the time it does not go off. Similar situation happend to me in 2002, but I got lucky if you say. They weren't able to steal my car, but did about $800 worth of damage to my car, by breaking in. Needless to say I had to pay for it out of my pocket, because it would not even be worth it to report it to the insurance company. After I got my car fixed, I took it and got a 2way pager on the car.

Good luck bro.
